David Oldfield presents One Nation's case in the Courier Mail

Here is an extract from David Oldfield's article that appeared in today's Courier Mail:

We can do better - but it will mean electing a new type of representative to our parliaments. We need people with common sense who have patriotism in their hearts. People who care for Queensland and Australia, not foreign or self-interests.

If we want jobs, we must rebuild our manufacturing base and protect our industries.

If we want a secure and prosperous future, we need to take control of our affairs and not let foreigners and their helpers make our decisions in their interests.

To have change, you must vote for change.

Canberra Column from Peter Mackay

Here is an extract from Peter's article:

But I've seen Pauline in action, and I've seen her appeal to the common man. She speaks for them and she is not the artful politician with the carefully-crafted speech. She speaks from the heart and she speaks what is in many people's hearts. I've seen her dancing on the lawns of Parliament House at midnight with lifelong Labor voters -- hardened CFMEU miners who wouldn't dream of voting for the Coalition, but were won over by Pauline with a few off-the-cuff words and a willingness to listen.

I think that Peter Beattie has put his foot right in it with his attacks on Pauline Hanson and his reliance upon the conventional wisdom. We know that the Coalition voters are deserting in droves, but I think that it is the traditional Labor voters who will give Pauline a tick as well. They might not want to admit it to anybody else just yet, but in the privacy of the polling booth, they will vote with their hearts. And a lot of those who do stay with Labor as their first choice will defy the party ticket, the politically correct line, and give Pauline their second preference. Far better One Nation than the Coalition.

Tomorrow we go live

Tomorrow we will be covering the Queensland State Elections live. This will include live IRC from the Convention Centre.

anotd will be brief in the morning and be centered around live coverage which should start after 6pm tomorrow. Feedback is starting to grow...

Here are my predictions for tomorrow:

Seats held by Parties
Labor 41
One Nation 15
National 11
Liberal 22

I wish to make it clear that my predictions are on the conservative side because I believe that there is an enormous undefined groundswell support of One Nation which will only be revealed on the day. I believe that a large strip between the seats of Redbank and Cook will be gained by One Nation.

Should the following be the outcome I would predict that One Nation will join the Coalition as an equal partner on the following basis:

Please note these are only my predictions and do not in any way represent One Nation policy or directions.

Here are the latest AC Neilsen survey results:

First Preference by Electorate (%)
Party Total Barambah Maryborough Mt Ommaney Mundingburra
ALP 33 16 35 36 44
Coalition 28 31 17 37 27
Pauline Hanson's One Nation 27 42 38 10 21
Others 7 9 3 15 0
Undecided 5 3 7 2 8

There is a growing surge in support for Pauline Hanson's One Nation in Queensland with the party now showing the following support in two key areas:

Rural and Northern: One Nation 27%; Labor 36%; Nationals 14% and Liberals 9%.
South East: One Nation 22%; Liberals 18%; Labor 17%; Nationals 16%.

Source: CM Report

In seats like Barambah One Nation is showing primary support of 42%.

Not bad for a fledgling party. A 16% surge in support since February this year.

Queensland Times (QT) show their bias

Two days out of the Queensland State Elections Ipswich's QT ran the following headline:
"Hill doubt on loyalty to city" and the caption, Hill: "I do not perceive Ipswich as my community of interest."

Heather Hill is, of course, One Nation's state leader and candidate for Ipswich.

The statements were made by Hill late last year in response to a boundary review survey. The comments had nothing to do with Hill's community work or commitment to the Ipswich community but, when read in context were to do with her shopping preference.

The article states that Hill now lives in Karana Downs but only lived in Ipswich for 2 years. This is totally incorrect with Heather Hill having worked for the poor in the Family Services Centre for many years and having lived there for 26 years.

Scott,

Your exposure of the Channel Nine "Call to Arms" scam was a masterpiece of electronic gumshoe work, for which you richly deserve everyone's congratulations - here are mine!

Subject: Those that bite the hand that feeds them

Thursday's News of The Day featured an article about the ravings of a Les Malezer( a good Aboriginal name) who is the General Manager of yet another taxpayer funded haven for bludgers called, The Foundation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Research Action, whatever that means.

I take exception to Mr. Malezer calling me a Nazi because I belong to ONE NATION whose aim is just that, ONE NATION. Not divided as he appears to be in favour of, Anyway, what would he know about Germany in the 30's, was he there?

To read the drivel that this man is purported to have said one would be excused from wondering why he is still loose. These utterances are not conductive to reconciliation and I do not think this nut should be encouraged by printing his bullshit.

It makes me very angry when I read the ravings of people like Mr. Malezer who like most of the other loud mouthed people in his industry have conveniently forgotten their white origins. He is probably one of those people who joined with the Aborigines in the last 20 years when there was a 129 % increase in their population!

What about some TRUTH, Mr. Malezer? The INDIGENOUS LAND CORPORATION (ILC)is another taxpayer funded body that no-one hears very much about but since its establishment in 1995 it has done very nicely thankyou. What is known as the Land Fund which is administered by the ILC was allocated $200 million in 1995 and thereafter an allocation of $121 Million per year until 2004 a total of $ 1.289 Billion. The yearly allocation is INDEXED from 1996 to maintain the value in 1996 dollar terms.

Of this $121 million allocated each year, $76 million is retained in the Land Fund, $45 million goes to the ILC for land aquisition and management.

The ILC is the LARGEST single land owner in Australia and yet these characters are not satisfied, they have land claims over 80% of Australia and because we do not think that this is a fair go, we are called Nazi's. Well Mr. Malezer, This Nazi thinks that you and those of your kind are nothing but PARASITES and I'm sure you do not speak for the majority of ABORIGINALS.

Subject: Has 7.30 report turned the corner? Dear Sir ,

watching thursdays 7.30 report on the Qld .election , I felt that perhaps at least one section of the media was starting to report One Nation with at least some degree of responsibility and even handedness. What a revelation it was to see a happy ,smiling and relaxed Pauline Hanson as she moved among the crowd at the shopping centre. She was so warmly greeted by the ordinary Australians she so closely represents. You could see the good will and openness in the way that people related to her. Maybe the ABC have finally twigged, that here is a genuine popular politician, somebody that the people actually connect with and like!. In itself ...this is so unusual ,it invites a clearheaded and rational inquisition by responsible commentators.

Maxine McQ seemed to be quite aware of this and remarked several times in her interviews with Beattie and Borbidge that these were highly unusual circumstances. She conducted the interview accordingly and in doing so elevated herself immensely,in stark contrast to that grinning creampuff ,Ray Martin , of a few days ago. By the way, have you noticed how Raymond has been reduced to running a whole swag of humanitarian, feel good ,"what a sensitive guy" type stories since THAT interview and his grovelling apology ? Meanwhile, One Nation has broken all records for Australian Politics. It has astounded political observers and completly flummoxed the flat footed and uninspiring bunch that are Pauline Hansons parliamentry colleagues. Borbidge admitted that "no ,he had never seen anything like it ,either!" To his credit, when he was invited by Maxine to try and explain WHY HE thought people were flocking to One Nation , he did ,slightly, manage to raise a few of the relevant points that the Australian public have been so incensed about for several years.

Congratulations Bob.

Something else that struck me , but only well afterwards ,was that i couldn't recall the word" racist" ,used once in the entire segment. Now that is definately a first for my money.

As for Beattie,... well.........now theres a bloke who is just a little bit too smooth. A little too glib with the fast and staightfaced lie. No doubt his beach boy good looks and charm have got him into places and things that a less well endowed bloke would dip out on....and he is arrogant enough to believe that it is because he is the best man for the job. Beattie is on a run! Beattie is taking no prisoners this time.... he's got a sniff of the big job and he is going hard. No deals. Its him or nuttin Queensland....take it or leave it!!!!

Time and again in the interview it was.... vote Labour or its chaos for Qld. It was...Certainty and jobs...(.that weatherbeaten old chestnut) with Beattie..... or.......the end of the world with the Libs, One Nation and the Nats.

What amazes me is that these people must still believe, that we will believe them, on the jobs issue. As if they have the answer, all of a sudden.

When pressed by Maxine, that his stance on NO DEALS with ONE NATION would most likely result in an inoperable parliament and another election, he fluttered badly for a sec, but found a way out by demanding that Queensland give him an absolute majority , so there. In other words ,another politician whose only concern is his own agenda and BUGGER the PEOPLE , yet again.

Well ,I dont think so Beattie. Somebody deserves an absolute majority in Queensland in 1998 but she isnt up there demanding it,like you are. Whatever she does get ,it will be because the good people of Queensland have given it freely and fairly to her, knowing that she represents THEM.

Steve Nichols

Dear Scott,

I have printed your News Of The Day every day over the last year for our branch in Townsville. You have done an incredible amount of service for Pauline for which I thank you. I will be connecting my computer at our celebration venue but not too sure how to connect to mirc. Will the page that is bookmarked be sufficient to get all the information. I am only a novice on the computer so please bear with me.

Regards Syd Noel.
