Between the One Nation lines

Credibility: 0 - Deception: 1

The score for the Australian journalist profession.

Yesterday, as all anotd readers will have seen, anotd challenged any journalist in Australia to contact us regarding the claim that Lachlan Murdoch told his senior editors to "kill the cow" when referring to the political career of Pauline Hanson.

I can now tell you that, despite my logs showing several visits to the anotd yesterday by various media outlets, not one journalist has had the balls to even contact me regarding the claim.

Not that I am surprised.

One Nation released its Health Policy yesterday.

Here is an extract:

As Australians age they will place increasing demands on the health services eg. Joint replacements, coronary artery bypass, pacemakers etc. There will also be a greater demand for nursing home and hostel accommodation. According to the Institute of Health and Welfare the life time risk of a 65 year-old person requiring nursing home care is 24% for a male and 37% for a female. By the time the ‘baby boomers’ reach this age it will increase to 35% for a male and 50% for a female. As technology is advancing with great rapidity new investigative and corrective procedures will arrive on the medical scene with a concomitant increase in costs. Advances in anaesthetics have enabled the frail and aged to undergo complicated and formerly risky procedures.

David Cairns and Co Media Management, Ontario - please explain

Today we can reveal that we are being surreptitiously investigated by a Media Management group in Canada. Now the Internet is a free place to roam and explore but when you have a highly regarded media management group like David Cairns and Co Media Management in Ontario spending over 20 hours in one session going through the anotd's subscriber pay news archives when they are clearly not a registered subscriber one's hackles rise.

The extract below from the full image (linked to this) shows clearly that David Cairns and Co Media Management had been on the gwb web site for, at that stage, over 20 hours.

Most of the interest by the company was in the anotd archives.... which I believe were accessed without possession of a legitimate password. (ie They are not a subscriber to the anotd archives). An example of access to one of the archive pages is shown below. You can click on the image for the full screen.

Furthermore, David Cairns and Co are apparently not just viewing pages but are using a robot alexa.com to store the files on their computer.

(Note I have kept, in graphic form, over 20 pages of links visited by David Cairns and Co Media Management under the log above - with most interest being access to the anotd archives).

Here is the link above - if you try to access it you will see the password request preventing you.

Yesterday morning I sent David Cairns and Co the following letter requesting an explanation. It has not, as yet, been answered.

Dear sir,

The writer is the editor of the on-line Australian National News of the Day. This daily Australian newspaper at http://www.gwb.com.au/gwb/news/daily.html contains a subscriber only section restricted to paying subscribers.

We have printed out Internet logs that show that your company accessed these news archives on Monday 21st September at about 11.30am (Australian Eastern Standard Time) for several hours.

The attachment shows that your company, David Cairns and Co Media Management had been active on our site for over 12 hours at just after 3pm on Wednesday 23rd September 1998.

We are concerned because according to our records we have no Canadian subscribers to our archives and, on the face of it, your company's access to hundreds of files in these archives during the periods referred to above amounts to a clear breach of our security.

Our searches on the Internet have revealed your company to be a well-respected business and for that reason we are willing to give you the benefit of the doubt at this stage. However, we seek the subscriber number given to all our approved participants through which the password to these archives have been gained.

Please advise as a matter of urgency the subscriber number so that we can confirm the validity of your status.

If the access information has come to your company through a third party this would, of course, be a clear breach of the security of our password protected subscriber section.

Please treat this as a matter of urgency. In the meantime we have blocked IP 206.132.186.132 from gaining access to our site.

Yours sincerely,
Interactive Presentations Pty Ltd trading as Global Web Builders

Scott Balson
Managing Director

We will give David Cairns and Co until this weekend to answer before we start using the power of the Internet to try to extract an explanation.

We have our suspicions as to where the company got the access details. A journalist employee of News Limited subscribed to the anotd earlier this month - and as a bona fide subscriber was given access with the clear written instructions that the access was restricted to his personal use.

The Labor frothy based on hypocrisy

Yesterday we carried a transcript of Alan Jones' comments about Labor's hypocrisy over preferences.

Today the master sleaze, Labor's Queensland State Secretary, Mike Kaiser, was trying to claim the moral high ground when accusing Pauline Hanson's One Nation of giving the Liberal party their preferences.

In today's Courier Mail the paper refers to a pre-polling "how to vote" card handed out in Oxley by One Nation candidate Colene Hughes.

This morning Bob, Colene Hughes's campaign manager told me, "Nobody makes an apology for the way things are because the major parties have put One Nation last anyway. If they had bothered to turn the how to vote card over they would have seen that Labor had been given the preference on that side."

"I won't believe what he (Mr Oldfield) says about preferences until I see him produce the double-sided cards he has promised," Kaiser said yesterday.

"I have put every Labor candidate in Queensland on alert that they should expect how-to-vote cards in their seats in which One Nation will direct preferences against them.

Labor's unethical preference ploy in the recent state elections is now well documented.

Aboriginal expert claims One Nation cursed

A director of Aboriginal Studies at the University of Southern Queensland, Gracelyn Smallwood claimed that One Nation was probably cursed.

She was responding to a passing remark by Barry Evans one of the party's Queensland Senate candidates. Evans was relating his experience at the Mirani Council Museum.

"It wasn't a big thing. A friend of mine, a South Sea islander, used to talk about this (the presence)," Evans said.

"He was a keeper of the secrets and there is an exhibition in the museum of old spears and tribal stuff from the islands.

"I went in there one night to get an Australian flag and it felt very strange. I wouldn't go there after dark."

Smallwood on hearing Evans comments said, "The haunting is not as strange as you think - and was probably a sign that the party was cursed."

One Nation's New South Wales top senate ticket, David Oldfield, (travelling with Pauline Hanson in New South Wales)  laughed off the comments saying, "If there is a curse it's not a problem for us because we don't believe in curses and you have to believe in curses and voodoo and black magic for it to be able to harm you.

"Our organisation doesn't believe in curses and I would suggest that it's a psychosomatic situation - things such as curses and voodoo dolls and you have to believe in them before they hurt you."

Aboriginal population grows beyond all estimations

The Australian Bureau of Statistics have revealed that Australia's aboriginal population grew by 55% in just ten years between 1986 and 1996.

The overall population of Australia grew by just 14% during this period with the higher Aboriginal population being attributed to higher birth rates by those with Aboriginal blood.

The stats also show that only 34.9% of Aborigines are getting an education despite enormous government funds being provided as an incentive - an increase of just over 1% since 1986.

Reporters Caught in the web

The Article at first reading sounded fair, and unbiased, but does your experience in reality cover the following?

(a) Why is the written word in hard copy any less subject to "blurring the boundaries between the Authorised and ad hoc..." than the web page? Both can be saved.
(b) Intimidation. I, like many have read Pauline Hanson's maiden speech, and it is not even remotely racist, yet the written word "hard copy" went out, verbalised by all the establishment. RACIST.
(c) This resulted in ordinary people like myself, who cannot afford to have our property savaged by people who believe this lie, having to vote TRULY IN SECRET.

No opinion poll will get any truthful answer from me. There is no way I will put a One Nation sticker on my car or front gate to place myself and family at the risk of violence and persecution, such as all have seen on TV. I have enlightened Asian and Aboriginal aquantainances who are in the One Nation camp.

The grapevine is more powerful than the newspaper. Many working-class people are hurting. There is no longer security of employment, and thus the home is at risk. The more the BIG LIE is told on the major news, the more people flock to the one person who is prepared to listen and say the truth. This is the grapevine working not the Internet. The Internet is merely a tool where ordinary people like myself can access Hansard (among others) and get the truth, and spread it around for ordinary people to read. This then makes a mockery of the newspaper that tells the opposite.

Finally, you are correct in that Balson and anotd is biased towards One Nation, but this cannot even remotely balance the opposing bias by the big business Media. It is truly a David against Goliath scenario, where TRUTH is bigger than muscle. Thank you for at least putting the anotd site address in your article.

Regards,
Philip Lester James.

Please Explain

Dear Scott,

As a reader and contributor to ANOTD I have followed your editorials and readers comments with interest. On this day when the United Nations has served notice on the Australian Government to "please explain", by January 1999 , our Immigration and Race policies, I have several questions of which I hope readers of ANOTD can enlighten me on.

  1. Why do our Asian immigrants enthusiastically choose to leave their country of birth, their natural culture and heritage , their families, friends and religious institutions, to settle in a country which is predominantly Anglo Saxon and alien to their own heritage and culture ?
  2. DO our new immigrants feel in anyway offended by being a party to the ''new wave invasion'' of aboriginal lands and in the further destruction of their culture. ?
  3. Why do people who claim to be anti-racist and against discrimination support organisations like ATSIC , treaties such as the Indigenous Bill of Rights, and governments that enshrine racism ?
  4. WHY haven't those people who sign petitions urging the Government to "give back the stolen lands'' freely followed their own consciences and given back their ''stolen booty'' ?
  5. WHY do those activists who cry the loudest about "the whitemans destruction of aboriginal culture" insist on giving aboriginals the benefits of '' the destructive whitemans culture " i.e.; better housing , better schooling, better medical facilities , welfare, transport etc .Does this not aid and abet in the further destruction of traditional aboriginal culture ?
  6. HOW many children of the "stolen generation" actually benefited from the care and attentions of well meaning "white Australians" ?

Have a good weekend......

Steve .

ABC Coverage of One Nation

Dear Scott,

Congratulations to the ABC 7 PM NEWS ???? and to the presenters of the 7.30 REPORT????? (Thurs Sept 24th ) on your efforts in the presentation of ONE NATION's policies and leaders to the taxpaying (i.e. your employers ) people of this country. Through your disgusting coverage and total lack of professionalism, you have set the media in this country a new low benchmark for puerile and contemptible journalism.

The ABC once had my respect as an institution which set and frequently obtained high standards in ethical and quality broadcasting , unfortunately after tonight's efforts I have serious doubts as to the present staff at the ABC having the ability to match those past standards and achievements.

I HOPE YOUR EFFORTS HAVE SECURED YOUR ORGANISATION A NEW BUDGET INCREASE FROM YOUR NEXT POLITICAL MASTERS. I FOR ONE NOW BELIEVE YOUR ORGANISATION IS GROSSLY OVERFUNDED AS IT IS !!!!!!!!!!!

Steve Milson.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GOODS AND SERVICES TAX - MUST BE STOPPED EMERALD - (Saturday, September 19, 1998) - The Coalition proposal (AFR-18/SEP/98) aimed at cutting Australian Securities and Investments Commission red tape is most welcome.

Whilst the Coalition’s proposal is a step in the right direction, it does not go far enough. Prior to 1993 Limited Liability Partnerships which had existed in Queensland since 1867 were taxed in the same manner as any other partnership. Unfortunately in 1993 the Labor Government and Mr. Keating in their lack of wisdom legislated to impose income tax on Limited Liability Partnerships in the same manner as corporations. The result, you guessed it, Limited Liability Partnerships have gone the same way as the dinosaur and the dodo bird.

Under State legislation a Limited Liability partnership may still be formed however as taxation is levied at the same rate as a corporation and not exempted as a partnership, the concept is not being utilised. Prior to 1993 the Limited Liability partnerships were an ideal structure for the raising of much needed venture capital especially for small business. Ironically Federal Governments both past and present who claim to be the supporters of small business are doing nothing to restore the pre 1993 status of Limited Liability partnerships. At a time when Limited Liability Partnerships are encouraged throughout the world and taxation is only levied in the same manner as any ordinary partnerships, on the partners, we have a Labor Government introducing a tax and the Coalition Government following suit.

In all sincerity how could any Commonwealth Government, Coalition or otherwise, be trusted with a Goods and Services Tax. Just like the existing Wholesale Sales Tax which began at 2% and is now up to 44% on some goods, the Goods and Services Tax will begin at 10% and before long will rise to 25% like Sweden.

The Labour Government reintroduced the Capital Gains Tax and the Howard Coalition did nothing to abolish it. The Frazer/Howard Coalition Government contemplated the introduction of the Fringe Benefits Tax payable by the employee, the Labour Government which followed did introduce it payable by the employer and the Howard Coalition since did nothing to abolish it, the list goes on. No Commonwealth Government can be trusted to introduce a horrific taxation regime such as the proposed Goods and Services Tax. It can be likened to giving a Vampire the keys to the blood bank.

Keep yer 'ead down

Opponents of Britain joining the European single currency received a boost Wednesday when the national media seized on a report that the head of Queen Elizabeth would not feature on euro banknotes. "Off With Yer Head MA'AM!" the top-selling Sun tabloid said in a front page headline. The Times, its broadsheet stablemate owned by Rupert Murdoch's News Corp., declared, "Queen's head banned from euro notes." The decision that euro notes would not carry national symbols was announced in Frankfurt Sept. 11, but British media only picked it up when European Central Bank president Wim Duisenberg told the European Parliament about it Tuesday in Brussels

Scott,

David was EXCELLENT on the ABC tonight. No wonder the major parties are running scared. They would have to be to do a total preference swap. This guy has what it takes to be a Prime Minister one day.

Real unemployment levels

Scott.

In todays Australian Newspaper, Thursday 24th September, on Page 6, in the article "Nice look, shame about the results" by Michelle Gunn, the following important statistic was revealled.

"The main flaw in the Oppositions job strategy is the absence of specific measusres for the nations 1.4 million long-term unemployed.

It is one of a number of weaknesses that stem form a desire by the ALP to satisfy to many competing objectives...."

The key figure here is of course 1.4 million. One Nation contends that the true unemployment level is around 1.8 - 2.0 million. On which basis it is possible (indeed necessary) for the level of long term unemployment to be around 1.4 million.

But the government, the opposition, the ABS and the media consistently feed the line that the true level of unemployment is the officially produced number of around 800,000 only.

One cannot have long term unemployment which is greater than the total level of unemployment...

I believe someone has just shot the official line solidly in the foot.

Hit them hard.

Regards.
