Between the One Nation lines

Yesterday the new One Nation Queensland State leadership met the media at the parliamentary press room.

Here are some images taken at the event. Full report of the weekend here..

The state parliamentary leader is Bill Feldman (Caboolture) and deputy Dorothy Pratt (Barambah)

Barbara Hazelton, Pauline Hanson's ex-private secretary, spills the beans

In classic Pasquarelli style, Barbara Hazelton is to have a lengthy article headed "Inside the world of One Nation" published in News Limited's Australian newspaper tomorrow.

In today's Australian newspaper she makes the following comment: "My intention is not to hurt Pauline Hanson or Pauline Hanson's One Nation but to remind Pauline of what she was when she was first elected and to reclaim One Nation for Pauline Hanson rather than David Oldfield."

Hazelton was for a long time during 1996 and 1997 Pauline Hanson's close confidant. Helen Dodd in her book "Pauline, the Hanson Phenomenon" refers to this friendship. Barbara (seen here on the right of Pauline) at the One Nation Christmas party last year, has often confided in me about concerns that she has had.

I have, at times in the past, shared some of these concerns regarding the leadership of the party.

On reflection what I have realised is that Pauline Hanson's One Nation party is in a state of transformation. The phenomenal growth of the party demands that changes be made and they are.

Last weekend the Queensland State branch of One Nation elected parliamentary and state leaders with a high degree of autonomy from Pauline and the two Davids. It was made very clear by Pauline Hanson to the new MPs over the weekend that they were there to represent their constituents. Not to listen to her or David... they were appointed by their constituents to look after their needs - where it counts. Pauline made it clear that for too long people had not been allowed this representation and this was the basis of One Nation's support.

Yesterday afternoon I gave the Queensland MPs a presentation on the role of the Internet in politics. I am pleased to be able to say that One Nation, following the meeting, will be using the Internet as a tool and communication medium with voters.

David Oldfield will have little or no influence on the Queensland branch of One Nation now it has been forged. The "forum" as the group now call themselves made a number of decisions over the weekend which overrode those of David Oldfield. One, for example, was to tell the ABC's FOUR CORNERS programme that they could not cover their entering the Parliament as a group (a call made by Oldfield). The producer was most surprised. David told him that this was their show not his.

As I said earlier the party has evolved into a major political force. Pauline Hanson will forever be remembered as the vision, the focus, the stateswoman and the leader who made it happen, but I do sincerely believe that she realises that with the growth and growth more and more of the operational part of the organisation will be run by other trusted members of the party.

That includes David Oldfield and David Ettridge who have both earned their stripes over the last 18 months. Oldfield's role in the Queensland state Election was critical. This phenomenal result was largely his success - his guiding hand. Those close to that party all realise that. And how can that be wrong? It is good, because it shows that the party is working cohesively and effectively during this time of rapid growth. You will notice that, despite his pivotal role, Oldfield was hardly seen on the night.

Oldfield left Pauline Hanson to bask in the glory. And so it should have been, but it says a lot about his commitment and position in the party.

As I have said many times before Oldfield might often be the spokesman, make the phone calls and ride the media tide, but behind the scenes Pauline Hanson still writes the script - it is not the other way around.

Despite what you might read in the Australian newspaper tomorrow.

Asian bigot leaves the Liberal party

Helen Sham Ho epitomises what makes the hair stand up on the backs of many normal Australians. Sham Ho was a member of parliament in the Liberal State Party until yesterday.

She put her hand up as Upper House President but was knocked back. She spits the dummy and in half-English tells Australia that she was told by an "unnamed" party that she not selected because the Liberals feared she would offend One Nation voters if she took up that role.

Here is a direct transcript from her statement to Channel 10 this morning. And there are a few new words in the transcript - as they "occurred":

Interviewer: "Now the Prime Minister says that you resigned because of sour grapes. Is this right?"

Sham Ho: "Yes. I believe he said it yesterday in Parliament."

Interviewer: "Did you resign because of sour grapes?"

Sham Ho: "Absolutely not. I deny that unequivocally because I resigned Iparticfor Prime Minister that the Liberal Party in general are not taking a strong enough stand against the rise of racism which started with the maiden speech of Member for Oxley that is the One Nation party.

Interviewer: "Well what does your resigning achieve?"

Sham Ho: "Well I have sent a very strong statement to the community that I resigned as a matter of principle because I certainly feel very frustrated within the party I would scream and shout and carry on as I was told before they even placed One Nation last in New South Wales. I have done a lot of work to just achieve that little step."

Interviewer: "Alright, they have done that now. What more do you want them to do?"

Sham Ho: "Oh there's more than that. I think placing One Nation last is just a small step in the first place they should have done it nationally. The Prime Minister I feel should be very earning the keys stamp out this racism sentiment within the community to start with now that is too late what does he have to do. Yes he has to be nationally say everyone should do that nationally not just New South Wales. Jeff Kennett was very strong and I must say my former leader Peter Collins was very strong and he just take a very strong stand on that."

Interviewer: "I have got to ask. You have said that you are going to actively campaign against John Howard in the next Federal Election. What can the Federal Coalition lose if the Chinese community withdraws its support?"

Sham Ho: "There's a lot of marginal seats like Parramatta for example. That there are a large number of Asian vote there. Then North Sydney you know if the Chinese community. They actually already lost confidence and support to the Liberal Party already. My resignation in fact I am doing them a favour. Telling them that the Chinese community and the Asian community in general."

Now can you imagine the ridicule that would be thrown at Pauline Hanson if she had spoken on national television like that!

Forget about the obviously bigoted statements by Sham Ho - think about how the media will treat this "Australian" when compared to another "Australian" under similar circumstances. Here you witness a classic case of media driven political correctness.

Some female Asian idiot on Channel 9's Today programme.

Chin-Ning Chu quote: "She (Pauline Hanson) has appealed to the ignorants and the dummies in Australia (because we don't want the multinationals to take over)."

Yes that's us folks!

"Racist" Asia - the pot calling the kettle black

1. Japan
You can never be a Japanese unless your mother is a Japanese. If you are descended from one of the Korean slaves that were taken to Japan in WW2 you are probably stateless today. If you are an Ainu (a Japanese aboriginal) you really do do it tough(No departments of Ainu affairs in Japan). I think that they the Ainu have just about all been killed. If you are a member of the Burakumin (or Eta or yotsoo or the fives ( 4 legs & a tail)) class in Japan you are really discriminated against. If you know a Japanese who thinks One Nation is prejudiced ask them about the Burakumin in Japan - today.

2. Taiwan
Anyone from the Australian Taiwanese Business Association spoken to a Taiwanese aboriginal lately? Don't think that Taiwanese are only people that came across from the Mainland with Chang and the KMT. Lets have a good look at the shape of Human Rights in Taiwan - what does Amnesty International say about them?

3. Malaysia
Mahathir Malaysian Bumiputra politics are about as racial as you'll get. If you ain't a Bumiputera, that is a a Malay Moslem, then the law actually discriminates against you. True! Ask their Ambassador. I'd love to hear what Helen Sham-ho has to say about the racially prejudiced legislation of Malaysia.

4. Brunei
Another charming racist Malay dictatorship. If you complain the Sultan will have your mouth sewn up. If you are a Bruneian aboriginal you will be penalised in all sorts of ways until you become a Moslem. You can be born a million times in Brunei but if your mother ain't a Bumi you'll never get a passport or be a citizen. You'll die Stateless.

5. Indonesia.
Every Indonesian knows what Pri Bumi means. Its a sign that you put outside your house or business so that the mobs know that you are not a Chinese and don't break in to rape your women and kill your sons. If you want racism and if you want racially based mayhem and murder go and look at Indonesia and I mean look back to the sixties not just to the start of this year!

Taking back control of our money supply

Here is an extract from that article:

Money is the lifeblood of a technological society and it is extremely easy for a mere handful of individuals to control billions of people if they own and control the banking system. Most of us have heard of the golden rule, whereby whoever owns the gold, makes the rules. What we have forgotten is that we own the gold and are letting an elite banking group make rules which serve only their narrow self-interest at the expense of the vast majority of humanity.

Older migrants drain on welfare: report

Up to 60 per cent of aged migrants who have been in Australia for more than two years are on welfare.

According to a report by two Monash University researchers, most migrants of pension age who enter under the parent category _ which means they are ineligible for an age pension for 10 years _ still manage to obtain special benefits.

They were unlikely to rely on their children for support and were able to obtain asset-tested benefits even if living in a ``mansion owned by their sponsor'', the report said.

The proportion of parent-category migrants on welfare was slightly lower for those from countries such as Britain and New Zealand, which have reciprocal welfare agreements with Australia. The report said, for example, that 51 per cent of men from ``agreement'' countries were receiving benefits two years after arrival.

The report, to be published in the Monash University journal, People and Place, supports Federal Government claims that older migrants in the parent category are a drain on the welfare system.

``Unlike long-term Australian residents whose taxes have contributed in the past to pay for the age pension and the public hospital system, recently arrived parents have contributed nothing,'' it said.

``Nor have most of their sponsors, since the most rapidly growing sponsor groups are those who have recently arrived from Asian nations.'' The biggest sponsors in 1995-96 were Australians born in China.

The report, by Dr Bob Birrell and Ms Virginia Rapson, of Monash's Centre for Population and Urban Research, estimates that $26.8million would be saved by denying labor-market allowances to New Zealanders for two years after arrival _ as proposed in this year's federal Budget. This is $10 million more than the Government's projection.

The report said any move to abolish quota limits on migrants in the parent category _ which will increase from 1000 to 2500 in next year's immigration program _ would have ``serious financial ramifications''.

The Federal Government has changed the balance of immigration policy to emphasise skilled migrants rather than family reunion.

It reduced the overall size of the immigration program from 97,610, in the last year of the Labor Government, to an expected 80,000 this financial year.

In the most recent announcement about the intake in April, the Government said it would increase the bond for people who sponsor their parents from $3500 to $4000 for the main applicant and $1500 to $2000 for the other. The Medicare charge would increase from $940 to $5000.

The report also attributed the drop in spousal migration _ from 31,707 in 1995-96 to 25,837 in 1997-98 _ to the tougher test of bona fides and the imposition of a two-year waiting period in Australia before granting permanent residency.

Subject: Moderated forum (Taken from aus.politics).

The moderated political discussion forum is off to a good start although the discussion has been dominated by One Nation supporters so far.

Why is this boys and girls ?
Are One Nation supporters more computer literate than others ?
Or could it be that people only support One Nation because they have something to say, and they feel no-one else will listen ?

Whatever the reason they are certainly having a say through the moderated political forums on the WWW.

Scott,

I have been receiving One Nation updates via the net for sometime now. It has certainly been helpful in sifting out what the media are saying about Pauline. I missed seeing Landline on ABC tv yesterday but from all accounts it came across very well. As a farmer in the SW of WA it would be great to see some of One Nation policies for the Rural areas on the net. Pauline is certainly getting some talk through the bush......so keep up the good work.

Could you please give me a user ID to enter the discussion forum, as I might be game enough to have a say sometime.

Thanks again,
Peter Jefferies

Subject: equality & political ignorance

Yesterday Allan W Doak wrote: "Now try and apply that to the system of totalitarian government that we have lived under for the last 26 years. One Nation is about "Equality for All Australians" but that concept appears a little difficult for some to grasp".

Perhaps the concept of equality is difficult for many to grasp because so many younger people and recent migrants have never experienced the true freedom we once had in Australia. They've grown up accepting that people are classified into groups - ethnics, gays, indigenous etc - which compete against each other. They have no understanding that once people were simply treated as equals no matter where they came from or what groups they belonged to.

They've never seen the Westminster system of government in operation. They do not understand that there is supposed to be a true oppostion to challenge the government to justify its policies. They've grown up with bi-partisanship as the norm in government. As the greens and democrats have never been mainstream, they have never been an effective opposition.

It's a scary thought. But at least to understand the problem is a start.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EMERALD - (Sunday, June 28, 1998) - I couldn’t help but comment after seeing the photograph and reading the story on how Jan Candy of Victoria has cancelled her Queensland holiday because of Pauline Hansen and the One Nation’s electoral success (The Spy, SM 28/06/1998).

Quite frankly I don’t care, if she is so small minded it is better that she doesn’t visit Queensland, we can well and truly do without her.

Further more any Queenslander who dares to venture into Victoria must surely have rocks in his or her head, especially when the performance of the Cain, Kernot and Kennett regimes is taken into account.

I wonder what will happen to Jan Candy and her cronies when the Pauline Hansen juggernaut starts marching through Victoria. Maybe Jan and company will move on or possibly commit suicide.

Pauline Hansen’s recent electoral success demonstrates that Queenslanders have finally decided to rebel against the southern oppressors. History shows that the Commonwealth government was a southern plot, it was primarily formulated in New South Wales and Victoria. It was devised to pull down the borders and to give the southeners through the Australian constitution control over the affairs of Queensland.

Its time to stop feeding the southeners, the sooner Queenslanders serve notice on the South and go it alone the better.

Yours,

V. (Vic.) B. Cominos

Subject: Harradine

Power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Given that it is a case of "better the devil you know than the devil you don't", should Senator Harradine be encouraged to contemplate compromising his principles to resolve the WIK problem or to retain his "balance of power" in the Senate?

Subject: The People.

Politicians are endowed with an inordinate belief in their own infallability. It is part of their egocentric existence, and when the common herd begin to question their decisions they react with complete disbelief and begin to ridicule the spearhead of the movement against them - in this case, the One Nation Party.

What they forget is what should be the first lesson in politics. "You can fool some of the people some of the time, but, you can't fool all of the people all of the time."

Abraham Lincoln wasn't far wrong with that statement, was he?

Clarrie.

Subject: Corporatisation of Water

An article in the Weekend Australian said, in effect, that all power supplies and gas supplies will be privatised then "corporatised water to follow suit.". I believe that there is movement in this direction in N.S.W. also.could we have a follow up of this.

Every day I read the Courier Mail for the comics and the daily news, then I read GWB for a corrected interpretation.

great syte. Keep it up. John Hugo

Subject: Pauline Hanson

I agree with everything that Pauline stands for. Lets start spending our money in Australia and not use it to support foriegn countries.

If they want our money, let's give them a loan through the IMF, and if they miss one payment, then we take action to recover it...

I am sick and tired of their being two services available to Australians. 1. Aboridginies, they have their own legal service, medical service, housing service, etc.
2. Australians (whites and recent immigrants) have their own. Why not pool these services. It would not affect the level of service, if anything it would improve. Rather than have two groups claiming wages and running costs for these services, there would be one, but still helping all Australians.

Pauline Hanson, where have you been??? We needed you along time ago!!!~

Subject: Beattie the LIAR

Dear Sir,

Peter Beattie is an unmitigated bloody LIAR and Mike Kaiser, his State President is an absolute disgrace to the human race and should hang his miserable head in shame. What an absolute curse it would be to be the wife or child of either of these despicable excuses for humans.

On the "Sunday" programme on Channel 9 on 28/06/98, Peter Beattie said and I quote :

"We put One Nation last on every one of OUR how-to-vote cards in every electorate"

Well perhaps the sleazy Beattie would like to explain why the attached Australian Labor Party how-to vote card that was being distributed in the Albert Electorate clearly shows that in this case One Nation was place FIRST, even ahead of their own grubby candidate.

Allan W. Doak

THE SHAPE OF AUSTRALIA

So you think the Australian economy is in great shape do you? Well , it isn’t, we are in a mess.

From 1988 to 1996, the number of farmers declined from 168,000 to 147,000, that is 52 farmers a week and of those remaining, only 20% are free of debt. The remaining 80% owe some $18 billion!

The manufacturing sector has declined from 24.8% of GDP to 14.3% in the last 25 years resulting in the loss of more than 420,000 jobs.

1998, two million Australians want to work but either cannot find a job or have given up searching for one. The Australian Bureau of Statistics indicates that the real rate of unemployment is 19%, more than double the official rate.

Our manufacturing base is 90% foreign owned as against comparable countries with an average of around 10.5 % foreign ownership. We are importing $40 billion more in manufactured goods than we are exporting. The percentage of the workforce employed in the manufacturing industry in 1961 was 27.5%, in 1996 it was 12.9%. Also during that period the number of part time workers rose from 8.6% to 25.3%. Average personal income tax during that period rose from 11.6% to 23.8%.

In 1982/83 Australia’s foreign debt stood at $20 billion , 1997 it was $220 billion and still rising . Australia is paying out $11 billion a year in interest payments. With 40% of the shares listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in foreign hands, dividends are flooding out of the country sending us further into the red and this will increase as more of our public utilities are privatised. Also in 1995/96 foreign owned firms repatriated $7.5 billion in profits, tax free, and this is rising substantially as more of our assets are sold.

Interest rates in Australia are much higher than some of our Asian neighbours. Japan 0.5% -1.5%, Singapore 3.5%, Taiwan 5%.

The Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics predicts that by the year 2010 the gas exports from the North West Shelf will be 20 million tonnes a year , such an increase would add $1.5 to $3 billion to our export earnings .

Western Australia has the biggest diamond mines in the world producing 38 million carats a year, in the 1996-97 year it exported iron ore worth $3.1 billion , $2.9 billion worth of gold , 62% of Australia’s total, it is the biggest exporter of alumina powder in the world and the fifth largest nickel producer, the export of minerals from Western Australia is worth $7.4 billion . One would be forgiven for thinking that this would be very lucrative for Australia. BUT we get only a tiny fraction of this treasure trove and that comes from license fees and small royalty payments.

Our Treasurer announced a budget surplus of $2.7 billion BUT what happened to the $18.6 billion in extra funds that he received from the sale of TELSTRA, $14 billion and the sale of Treasury bonds, $4.608 billion.

We DO have a thriving industry in Australia, it is called the Aboriginal Industry and it absorbs a large part of the $1.5 + billion the government hands out for the welfare of Australia’s Aborigines each year.

There is another industry that is not doing so bad either and that is the Government Real Estate which is booming with the sales of people owned assets such as TELSTRA, COMMONWEALTH BANK, various public utilities, and people owned real estate. There is a slight problem with this industry however, the people have not as yet received any benefit from these sales and what will become of them when there is no more to sell?

No, Australia is in very poor shape and getting poorer by the minute.

Subject: Homestay Network

Dear Sir,

I have no idea in the world what Homestay Network Pty Ltd is, but I would bet that it derives it's income from the public purse otherwise they wouldn't be spewing forth such crap.

Well Homestay, do you?

Allan W. Doak

Subject: over generalisations

Wasn't it funny how Anonymous of Homestay Network Pty Ltd indulged in precisely the same 'over generalisations' he or she was so quick to condemn. Jesus Christ noted the same thing when he told somebody to stop worrying about the speck in his brother's eye when he had a log in his own.

Just substitute 'One Nation supporters' for 'aboriginals, and 'stereotypeing' for 'racism' in the following sentence and you get: "I should really point out all the non truths, and gross over generalisations (he talks as if all One Nation supporters behave exactly the same way - a classic symptom of stereotyping) ....

Owzat, Homestay! To date, One Nation's critics have never managed to get further than such crude over generalisations. And what to make of Homestay's determination to 'stop' the party? Not to challenge its ideas it in the democratic political arena, but to stop it. Some tolerance.

Subject: ONE NATION - WHAT A JOKE

One Nation should not be last on the ballot paper - it should not be on the ballot at all!!!!!

How dare Pauline Hanson and her band of red necks be allowed to spread her vile, racist ideas.

How dare Pauline Hanson purport to represent average Australian citizen's, I am an Australian citizen and in no way do I support any thing that she stands for.

Pauline Hanson and One Nation is a bad joke.
