Anne Scott to stand as independent in Oxley

In 1996 Pauline Hanson did it by leaving the Liberal Party, this time round scorned ALP pre-selection candidate Anne Scott has indicated that she will stand as an independent in Pauline Hanson's seat of Oxley. Ms Hanson is now standing for the seat of Blair.

Yesterday Anne Scott again criticised the ALP powerbrokers describing them as corrupt and morally bankrupt in stalling her appeal against the decision to nominate Bernie Ripoll ahead of her.

"So many rules have been broken in this pre-selection (the appeal) can't be lost," she said. "I gather by the delaying tactics, they are trying to put this off as long as possible."

"The (Oxley pre-selection) is just far too important not to go unchallenged," she said. "If they will not deal with this through the proper channels... if (running as an independent) is the only way I can challenge the pre-selection then I will go down that path. It's a last resort but I will do that."

Under Labor Party rules a member who runs against an endorsed candidate is automatically expelled from the party.

Mrs Scott said a member of Pauline Hanson's One Nation party approached her about running under their banner the day after she lost the pre-selection vote, but she "politely and firmly" declined.

Mr Kaiser, the ALP's state secretary, said that the disputes tribunal was making progress on the appeal but Mrs Scott had raised "numerous and complex" matters.

"We're actually making faster progress on this dispute than we are on other disputes brought before hers," he said.

Globalist Illusions

Here is an extract from this week's article by Graham Strachan:

On December 1, 1997, Foreign Minister Alexander Downer addressed journalists at the Canberra Press Club, confirming that the Howard government was committed to ‘globalising’ Australia. The hidden message to the new-style journalists was to go out and ‘sell’ the idea to the public. So just what is ‘globalism’, now that the sentence has been pronounced on the Australian people?

The answer is that ‘globalism’ can mean a couple of things, one of them innocuous, the other definitely a cause for alarm. The lack of clarity has been made possible by the undemocratic manner in which globalism is being implemented. Since there never was a question of the people of the world being asked whether or not they wanted it, a clear definition of what globalism means was unnecessary. Those ‘in the know’ knew anyway, and nobody else matters nowadays. That’s ‘rationalism’. Shades of things to come.

The ‘g’ word was subtly slipped into the language by the media, whose policy is to tell the public as little as possible about globalism until it is too late for them to stop it. The globalist elites maintain a pretence that it has all been agreed to, while their strategy is ‘just do it’. If anybody challenges what you’re doing, ‘deny you’re doing it’. If that doesn’t work, ‘tell ‘em anything’. So what does ‘globalism’ mean?

ALP state candidate resigns.

Karen Ehrman yesterday quit as ALP candidate for the Townsville seat of Thuringowa after she received a summons for more than 50 counts of electoral fraud.

"I shall strenuously defend the charges," said Ehrman who was to launch her campaign on Saturday. "However, because of my loyalty and commitment to the party, it would be in the interests of the party for me to stand aside as the party's candidate."

Last night the ALP administrative committee met and accepted Ms Ehrman's resignation and re-endorsed Ken McElligott a former cabinet minister.

The charges against Ms Ehrman relate to allegations that she forged ballot papers and electoral role forms in May 1994.

The ALP have a track-record of allegations relating to vote rigging in marginal seats.

Patrick Stevedores behind the Dubai wharf training

Documents supporting allegations that Patrick Stevedores loaned money to the company organising the failed training programme for ex-soldiers at Dubai were tabled in Parliament yesterday.

A letter from Patrick chief Chris Corrigan to Fynwest Pty Ltd's solicitors dated May 8th demanded that the company repay a loan given by Patrick in October last year.

The letter contradicts evidence given by Corrigan to the Australian Industrial relations Commission that he knew nothing about the Dubai training scheme and that he had not financed the operation in any way.

The Patrick letter states: "Your clients have consistently failed to provide regular accounting and frank reconciliation detail in respect of the loan provided by Patrick to Fynwest Pty Ltd.

"As your clients are aware, the agreement dated 23rd October 1997 was subject to a further agreement dated 17th February 1998. Your clients have not complied with the provisions of the agreement."

The letter was tabled during question time yesterday with Simon Crean accusing Workplace Relations Minister Peter Reith of lying when he stated that Dr Steven Webster, then working as a consultant, had not discussed the Dubai issue with Fynwest.

Crean produced telephone records which confirmed that Fynwest chief Mike Wells had spoken to Dr Webster on several occasions at this time.

He asked John Howard, "Did you say 'We will support them to the hilt, provided they act within the law'? If Mr Corrigan had perjured himself, shouldn't you stick to your promise and stop backing him to the hilt?"

Howard replied, "The proposition that it is in some way wrong for people to be trained overseas is something that totally escapes me. The difference between the government and the opposition is that when the Maritime Union of Australia dog barks, you come running."

Subject: Boycott the dailies.

Last night I rang the national radio talk-back and called for a nation- wide boycott on our major Newspapers until they are chastened sufficiently to print the truth. I am sick and tired on the neo-con neo-libertarian crap they dish up to us in the name of journalism. I am sick of the mug-shots of neo-con artists posing as politicians leering at me from the pages of our daily papers, I am sick of reading editorials which support the free-market, MAI and privatisation. I am tired of not being able to read a word from the opposition. I am tired of the Business Roundtable preaching their sales pitches via the media.

I have also rung the editor of our major city paper and told him that I am calling for a national boycott of his paper and will continue to do so until they change their ways.

Subject: re Asian meltdown

My tiny mind is in turmoil.

Paul Keating went into a sushi bar one night and liked it so much, he declared that Australia's destiny was to become a part of Asia. He becomes the Messiah.

John Howard claimed that the Australian economy was in good shape and would not feel the full effects of the Asian meltdown because of his policy of not being aligned to only one geographical area, but being aligned to the whole world.

He becomes a national hero.

Pauline Hanson says right from the start that Australia should not align itself only with Asia but should look to the whole world. She becomes a bigoted racist troglodyte.

Someone pass me the Panadol please.
