Feedback on Channel 9s Crime and Punishment programme

During the Channel 9 programme on crime and punishment on Monday night Pauline Hanson said that the voters should decide whether capital punishment should be reintroduced on serious crime. Looks like the people have spoken... comprehensively!

Results of Channel 9 survey on crime:

1) Should the death penalty be re-introduced for some serious crime?

2) Should our legal system include mandatory ‘Truth in sentencing’?

Media Lies: Conspiracy Theories.

Extract from this week's article by Graham Strachan:

The standard media reaction to the suggestion that ‘economic rationalism’ and ‘free trade’ are false versions of the theories of Adam Smith and David Ricardo, deliberately contrived to bring about domination of markets by the economically strong and to further the process of ‘globalisation’, is to label the claimant a ‘conspiracy theorist’. According to the ‘politically correct’ view, ‘globalisation’ is supposed to be ‘just happening’, the result of spontaneous forces beyond the control of man, ‘market forces’, forces of inevitability, history or destiny. That’s why the media are claiming the MAI is ‘unstoppable’.

Patricks and the wharfies

Last night Patricks fired its entire workforce across the country - some 1,400.

I have always felt extremely concerned about the background to who is financing the operation to remove the trade union. It goes without saying that the Maritime Union of Australia (MUA) are un-Australian and over paid. It goes without saying that the MUA use militant tactics typical of the Australian Labor Party. However, there are two areas that concern me:

In late January I raised the issue of this funding.

My concern is based on one thing and one thing only and that is that the Patricks move supported by the Coalition and the ALP (by silence) is all part of the "globalisation" of Australia.

I am willing to predict that Patricks will be absorbed by a multinational like Franklins once the new non-union labor force takes over from MUA workers.

"This is a decisive turning point in the history of the workforce...." said Workplace Relations Minister Peter Reith when announcing the news of the mass sacking last night. Patricks have said nothing officially.

It goes without saying that the sacked workers are incensed.

Back in Parliament while another 1400 families see their work disappear the petty infighting between the ALP and the Coalition continues unabated with the ALP through Senator Robert Ray leading an attack against the government. The attack is based on a claim that a computer scanner has been used to create false hotel invoices which have then allegedly been lodged by two Coalition ministers when making travel claims.

Peter Reith had this to say in Parliament yesterday about the claims by Ray: "... cowardly and dishonest claims against honest people doing their job.... Senator Robert Ray again sifting through his bucket of muck."

You don't have to be an Einstein to be concerned about the continued obsession of the parties in pulling each down while real jobs belonging to real Australians are being lost to multinationals. The loss of jobs in the financial services industry - today Australia's most profitable - has been quite phenomenal. Services have been dramatically cut back and the industry is now controlled by foreigners through the secret international treaty - the Financial Services Industry Agreement or FSIA - full details here.

Subject: Ch 9's Capital Punishment

Dear GWB

How pathetic of Nine to use the victims of horrendous crimes to boost the ratings. Then to have the nerve to use a phone poll after the EMOTIONS of viewers have been "played" with. Pathetic journalism at its best.

Imagine giving the power of life and death to the type of Governments we've had running this state and country. You're talking about people who rip us off just to get a cab fare. And let's not forget some of the Judges we have here.

Anyway, to all those screaming for the Death Penalty, you will eventually get your wish. The Bible states, quite clearly, that in the last days people who don't accept the New World Order will be put to death.

regards
S.E. Wagger

p.s.
By the way, if we have the death penalty, does that mean doctors who perform abortions will be executed for child murder?

Subject: Crime and Punishment!

I would just like to comment on the remarks/letters on yr Web Page with regard to the 'A Current Affair' show featuring Pauline Hanson and Ray Martin. I think that some of the comments were ill-conceived if not illogical.

It constantly amazes me when people say things like:'lock them up and throw away the key' and 'bring back the death penalty'. What they SHOULD be asking themselves is:'how come the jails are now overflowing and they can't build new ones fast enough. What's wrong with society'.

Crime has always been around but, per capita, it is much more prevalent now then, say, forty or fifty years ago....so: people shold be asking:
why? Well: crime involves some sort of moral choice. That doesn't happen in an intellectual vacuum. People get their ideas from what they read, see and are taught either in school, home or church. That's the key to it..... forty or fifty years ago things like absolute right and wrong and the Bible were pretty much standard fare in schools and homes...nowadays: what have you got? Relative morality and all that sort of nonsense....well: itz like the Good Book says:'as a man thinks in his heart so he is'.....thatz where people's focus ought to be..not necessarily attacking the criminal justice system... which we have inherited from the Westminster Tradition and the Magna Carta... the rights contained therein are our only gurarantees of freedom and liberty and the right not to be unjustly accused for political reasons...

ON supporters should be the last to take isssue with things like:

The negation or nullification of all or any of these rights can only ultimately assist the forces of darkness and tyranny. People should think twice, if not thrice, before 'selling off' their birthright. These Common Law rights are the only safeguard against political tyranny and unjust accusations.... and were amongst the first things the Communist Chinese Government abolished on assuming control of Hong Kong.......I rest my case!

(jimbo!)

Personal trivia, from the global office:

Another perfect day in paradise.

Have a good one.
