[MURDER BY MEDIA, DEATH OF DEMOCRACY IN AUSTRALIA]

from an Aussie's viewpoint on Australia's first daily Internet newspaper.
Since October 1995

Heather Hill tours rural Queensland

Here is an extract from the press release:

Senator Elect Heather Hill has been challenged by Mr Hong, a Sydney businessman, over her eligibility to accept a senate position. During these public meetings she will also be discussing her impending case in the High Court. Mr Hong claimed that he had the backing of the Chinese community, other ethnic communities and overseas supporters. It is difficult to believe that anyone in Australia would support this challenge. Mr Hong has stated that this is not a "One Nation thing" and not a "personal Heather Hill thing" and that he is merely trying to ensure the law is upheld. Heather Hill has challenged that if Mr Hong is so genuinely concerned about Section 44 of the constitution then he should immediately take steps to challenge all elected representatives who have done the same as Heather Hill - been born overseas.

Mrs Hill will explain that even if it could be shown that she had not taken reasonable steps to sever her previous citizenship, her case is strong. Great Britain has never been a foreign power under our constitution. Unless someone has changed the constitution without seeking the permission of the people of Australia via a referendum, Great Britain is still not a foreign power. Why would we be commencing to have a constitution referendum on severing our ties with Great Britain if it were a foreign power already?

Another Night - Another failed attempt on the life of One Nation

Here is an extract from Alan Doak's report:

Then came John Carson, visiting from the Gold Coast branch.. Most Branches on the south side would have encountered this character at some time. Carson is best known for his rudeness and disruptive practices while visiting other branches, although he gained notoriety this past week when he told Pauline Hanson to "piss off" from a meeting of the Gold Coast Branch, much to the disgust and shame of the members and supporters present. Even last night when he addressed the Waterford meeting he spoke, with what I interpreted as pride, of his rudeness to Pauline. Anyone who remembers Carson's "Cage Rattler" exercise of 1993, designed to save Australia by writing pages of waffle and then getting the unemployed to sell it for $3.00 a time will be pleased to know that nothing has changed.

Murder by Media saga unravels

There is growing controversy over the withdrawal of the book "Murder by Media" by Dymocks.

Theories include direct intervention by one of the media barons to Dymocks Chairman John Forsyth to fear that the picture of the two young media barons, Lachlan Murdoch and James Packer on the front cover of the book might offend them. The result - the fear that Dymocks might be taken through the courts at great expense for years for having had the "stupidity" to carry a book for sale which exposed the media barons for what they are.

Simply put the media barons are as bad as the Mafia. They are liars, cheats and tax dodgers and they use the law as a tool to protect themselves.

But of course I am not supposed to say that - because defamation is a weighty tool that can be used like a sledge hammer by the wealthy to suppress any negative publicity. In the words of the Dymocks letter, "I note your comment that the book cannot be the subject of legal threats because "it is based on fact and what reporters have written over the last three years". Even if that is in fact the case, we have been advised that truth alone is not a defence to defamation actions in Australia."

I respect Dymocks decision to remove the book - that is their commercial decision - but then , on the basis of what they say, they should also remove at least half the books in their book shelves because they fall into the same category. Take the book "Two Nations" by several reporters including Margo Kingston - which is carried in the book shelves by Dymocks. This book is far more defamatory and opinion based than Murder by Media but because the target is a soft one, namely Pauline Hanson and One Nation, it is fair game... Packer ("just another Australian voter" according to Prime Minister John Howard) and Murdoch are somehow to be treated differently.

If this is the case then we do not live in a democracy - we live in a controlled environment where what we see, read or hear has to meet standards and tests not based on the truth but based on legal opinion and money.

Of course this is the case and it perfectly supports my view presented on the back cover of the book that: "Beware, once you have read this book you will never again believe what you read, see or hear in the media."

A case in point is the defamatory cartoon carried by The Courier-Mail yesterday showing Pauline Hanson and the two Davids with cupid. Now replace the two Davids with Murdoch and Packer and Pauline with Rockefeller and cupid with the devil and you would be far closer to the truth.

But that would be defamatory... and would be censored...

Prediction - four corners of banking industry in state of collapse

Last year we predicted that the four corners banking policy would be removed shortly - this after merchant banker and Liberal powerbroker Michael Kroger started working for Nationals Australia Bank in an advisory role on the issue.

Today we hear that more Liberal heavyweights have moved onto the scene - David Gazard has left Prime Minister John Howard's staff to join Westpac while David McLachlan the press liaison officer for Finance Minister John Fahey has now joined the Commonwealth Bank. The ANZ Bank does not matter, because David Rockefeller's Chase Manhattan Nominees Limited is already the biggest shareholder in that bank.

What you now have is three Liberal powerbrokers in prominent lobbying positions working for three of the four banks - wait for the announcement that the four pillars will now be removed and that this is "good for Australia"... and all of you who voted for Liberal candidates - hang your heads in shame.

This is typical of the Laboral factions.

The truth is no defence

Hi Scott,

Good to see the Aussie sense of fair play alive and well in the readers section (Saturday). Regarding Dymocks disgraceful Un-Australian censorship of the book "Murder by Media" (which I have now finished reading) I too registered my disgust with Dymocks by email on Friday. I am not holding my breath for a reply.

The fact of the matter is Dymock's action does not surprise me, and their statement that the truth is no defence (whilst it sucks) is the actual state of democracy here in Australia today. I personally know of at least one action in a Sydney High Court that failed because the judge stated "The truth per-se is not a defence!"

Do not be intimidated by legal threats Scott. Everything you say in your book is true and I for one would personally stand up in court and attest to that. Besides they can hardly attribute what your readers say to you, to you can they?. So I say again Dymocks' withdrawal af the aforenamed book is a disgusting act of Un-Australian CENSORSHIP that stands head and shoulders above anything previously seen outside of the mainstream media in Australia in contention for the "Cretin Cub" member of the month "Golden Cuff Link Award" for best attempt this month to assist in the dumbing down of all Australians!

What is really hard to deal with is that a statement such as "truth is no defence" is actually an unqualified assault on reason itself, which leaves the professors and the dim-witted among us, with all shades in between, temporally in a state not dissimilar to the proverbial "stunned mullet" . Unfortunately such an intellectual conundrum does not compute so many simply choose not to process the data (truth is no defence) any further.

Wake up Australians they are stealing our home, our culture, our freedom, even the truth is being stolen out from under you. When a court can say "Truth is not a defence", when a large bookstore believes it, when Australians stand for it, look out! The Kommissars are here..

Personally I would rather die on my feet than live on my knees. Have a nice day.
David Morgan.

Shylock, censorship, Owzat and Samizdat

"I note your comment that the book cannot be the subject of legal threats because "it is based on fact and what reporters have written over the last three years". Even if that is in fact the case, we have been advised that truth alone is not a defence to defamation actions in Australia."

Owzat for a comment on freedom of speech from Dymocks bookstores regarding the book: "Murder by Media" by Scott Balson, after Dymocks pulled the book off their shelves.

If you want to read what Shylock does not want your eyes to see, you can get the book on the W.W.W. anyway, and bugger Shylock. Here is where you get it:

It was the "Samizdat" that beat the Russian KGB, and nothing will prevent the same happening in Oz.

Canada and the banks

In Canada that was accompanied by the phasing out of the non-interest-earning reserves that banks had to put up with the central bank as a proportion of the deposits they held. Between the two measures banks were able load up with another $60 billion of government debt without coming up with a penny of cash of their own. To make room for that, the Bank of Canada obligingly reduced its own holdings of government bonds, even in absolute terms.

This amounted to an annual entitlement for the banks of at least $5 billion. That amounted to about 80% of the entire slashing of grants by Ottawa to the provinces for social services.

Laborals contempt of Australians

The Courier-Mail had a small but positive item on Hansonism back on page 28 yesterday ( a sharp contrast to the large articles always at the front that this paper prints if they can concoct a negative spin on PHON ).

Journalist Michael Duffy wrote, "A consensus between the major parties had been formed in 1976-81, implicity to ignore the will of the people and boost the number of immigrants".

Quoting from the book "Ideology and Immigration" by socialogist K. Betts, Michael Duffy listed Laborals motives for increased immigration and it's support for multi-culturalism. The motives were:

  1. to satisfy business's desire for this country to have a large pool of unemployed to keep wages down ( obviously this would not apply to those overpaid greedy directors of these businesses ).
  2. to satisfy the migrant voters.
  3. the intellectuals and churches supported the admission of refugees.

Michael Duffy aptly described Laborals immigration policies as "economic insanity" being that they were meant to only satisfy the requirements of a few special interest groups. He also described how the Laborals continued with this immigration insanity even after they realised that there was an excessive number of Asians arriving in Australia and changing it's identity......until Pauline Hanson arrived.
