International:

Last night the predictable happened in Australian media with every television station seizing on the lead by the "tweedle-dum and tweedle-dee" of politics, the Labor and Liberal parties, who used the privilege of Parliament to launch their attack against Pauline Hanson's One Nation for, to quote SBS, "her latest comments on religion".

The television news stations totally misreported the facts that we provided first hand from David Oldfield yesterday. Oldfield was present when the reporter asked Ms Hanson the "controversial" question which was misreported.

Here is part of what he says in the above link, "Hanson at no stage identified any particular group and at no stage during the interview did anyone identify a particular group so the reporter or the editor added reference to religious groups like Jews and Hindus into the story after the fact."

But don't let that get in the way of a biased story.

This at a time when the news that Pauline Hanson is considering suing Triple J radio station for using her voice in a re-constructed song which suggests that she supports homosexuality (in fact is one) and supports paedophilia. A report which has not been covered by the mainstream media.

The misreported comments by Ms Hanson on religion was the spur for Victorian State Premier Jeff Kennett to say in a press interview yesterday, "She should be put last on everyone's ticket". Let us remember that there is now obvious collusion going on between the likes of the elite Liberal leaders like Kennett (who is good friends of Packer) and the media barons.

A few days ago the editor of Fairfax's "The Age", Bruce Guthrie resigned because BIL (Packer's "share holding station") had wanted him to go for reporting negatively on Jeff Kennett. This at a time when Labor opposition communications Senator Chris Schacht said, "for their own political health they've got to get proprietors on side".

Let us also remember that News Limited is party to this collusion with several leading newspapers in their stable taking the opportunity a few days ago to write editorials suggesting that Pauline Hanson should be put last on the Liberal ticket.

Here is an exact transcript of the slanted SBS report on last night's television news. This misreported incident was the trigger for the call for the Liberal and National Parties to put Hanson last on their voting tickets. I would like you to note the reference to (Pauline Hanson's "latest comments" and reports that she had "claimed" that she was misreported. The irony is obvious... the reporting ethics are non-existent.

SBS Headline- John Howard slams latest comments by Pauline Hanson as unchristian.

Prime Minister John Howard has branded as unchristian comments by Federal Independent MP Pauline Hanson to screen potential immigrants for their Christian beliefs. In a rare reply to Ms Hanson Mr Howard told Parliament Australia's immigration policy would remain non-discriminatory, but he has still declined to commit the independent last on "How to Vote" cards at the next election.

Prime Minister John Howard delivered his rebuke to Pauline Hanson in answer to a call by the Federal Opposition.

Kim Beazley: "Will the Prime Minister now join with the Labor Party and guarantee that the Liberal and National Parties will put the Federal Minister for Oxley last in their "How to Vote" cards in the next Federal election?"

He declined to commit his party to such a move but the Prime Minister instead used the opportunity to refer to Pauline Hanson's suggestion that priority be given to immigrants from Christian backgrounds. In stressing the non-discriminatory character of Australia's immigration policy.

"Any suggestion that consideration of secretarian background should be introduced as criteria for people to be selected to immigrate is not a criteria I would support and dare I say that any such suggestion is indeed unchristian."

Ms Hanson's comments also angered Victorian Premier Jeff Kennett. He said its tantamount to ethnic cleansing.

"Its just not good enough that she can start advocating a system of cleansing that has not existed in this country, should not be able to exist today and should not be promoted as a way into the future."

According to leaders of Australia's ethnic communities Pauline Hanson's latest remarks are proof of her ignorance.

Isi Leibler, World Jewish Congress: "Bigotry knows no boundaries. If you don't like Aboriginals you don't like Asians and you want to exclude people for whatever reason, why not include religion as well."

Dr Ka Sing Chua, Chinese Federation: "Christian values are shared by many religions and many people of various backgrounds may not be Christian but they behave even more Christian than Pauline Hanson."

Pauline Hanson meanwhile claimed her comments on religion were misquoted. (Hanson talking in Parliament over various loud interjections) "... no religion or culture should be afforded any special privileges under Australian law."

Ms Hanson went on to say Australian immigrants should have a knowledge of English and should be able to speak it.

A coalition of consumer, social welfare, environment and broadcasting groups are using a web site on the Internet to take the battle against changes in the cross-media ownership laws in favour of Kerry Packer and Murdoch on-line.

We would ask all our regular readers to support this call. The Cross-Media Ownership Rules site needs your support.

Making the news.

Political:

Ms Hanson had a lighter moment in her day yesterday when a large group of farmers from the Australian Citrus Growers gathered outside Parliament at Canberra to hear her say, "We are losing so much industry in this country and I just shake my head and say why can't they just see it."

This after the farmers brought their complaint that their fruit was being rejected by processors as too expensive - the processors able to import fruit from Asia at lower prices than the break even point for Australian farmers in the citrus industry.

Inside the Liberal and Labor parties were gnashing their proverbial teeth at each other... the farmers meaning diddly-squad to them at this time.

The latest NewsPoll result shows the second consecutive fall in support for Pauline Hanson's One Nation Party:

Pauline Hanson could be a very important person to our country if she wasn't racist, Or if she didn't come across as a racist. I think she has brought up some very important issues but she isn't saying the right things.

Subject: Brian Wilson

Dear Sir,

Brian Wilson is a familiar radio talk-back show host, like-minded and well informed. He has the capability to produce a web page of quality. Many of his listeners in the Baltimore area, of which I am one, wish him the best with this new venture.

Keep your powder dry,
John

Personal trivia, from the global office:
