[MURDER BY MEDIA, DEATH OF DEMOCRACY IN AUSTRALIA]

from an Aussie's viewpoint on Australia's first daily Internet newspaper.
Since October 1995

ASIO - where to from here?

The Attorney-General, Mr Daryl Williams, approved all requests from Australia's intelligence agency, ASIO, to install bugs, intercept phone calls, open mail or secretly search buildings in the past financial year.

Apparently unperturbed by the bad publicity that followed ASIO's joint exercise with the United States in bugging the Chinese embassy, exposed in 1995, the spy agency's annual report shows that the Federal Government remains supportive of covert gathering of intelligence.

The Australian Security Intelligence Organisation report also strongly indicates that the agency has been involved in infiltrating extreme nationalist groups, some of which were spawned by the Australian ``race debate'' and tough new guns legislation.

The nation's security during the year was - according to the report tabled in Federal Parliament this week - characterised by such issues as a deterioration in the Middle East peace process, the possibility of politically motivated violence sparked by the Iraq weapons crisis, and ``a potential for domestically inspired, politically motivated violence arising from issues such as race''.

ASIO provided more than 600 "threat assessments" relating to the likelihood of politically motivated violence.

Sources have told The Age that since the introduction of tougher gun laws and the emergence of so-called "Hansonism", ASIO has taken an interest in citizen-styled militias in rural Australia.

Other main security issues included "strong reaction to events and issues relating to waterfront reform (that) resulted in threats to various ministers"; preparing for the 2000 Olympics; and identifying residency applicants who posed potential espionage, terrorist or other security risks.

On its covert activities, the report notes: "Legislation grants ASIO special powers to use intrusive methods of investigation ... During the reporting period, all of ASIO's warrant requests were approved by the Attorney."

Scott,

yesterday I received mail from One Nation head office. It included copy of new constitution and a book "Murder by Media". Parcel arrived opened with what I presume to be an Australia Post stamp on it "Damaged before posted". The package was then put in a clear plastic bag, obviously by the Australian post, to ensure I will receive all of the contents.

Such excellent service by Australia Post deserves my thanks.

Readers might recall that my baggage went missing when I returned from Sydney to Brisbane on QF522 on Sunday - the only missing baggage on a Boeing 767 with no empty seat. When my baggage was delivered to my home by Qantas the next day it has very obviously been searched.

The box of books on the left was inside my suitcase. Except for a very obvious rough cut down one corner the box remains undamaged - with even the Dymocks sticky tape in place (used to seal the box after the book launch at Dymocks George street). It was packed in clothing - no sharp objects near it.

Now maybe I am just being paranoid but what's going on out there - and who the hell do ASIO actually work for - is it the multinationals?

China solves the Millennium bug

According to the BBC World Service yesterday, and various items in newspapers, China has solved its Millennium problems (at least where air transport is concerned) at a stroke.

The chief executives of all of its airlines are ordered to be airborne at midnight on 31st December 1999.

ABC Radio

2 weeks ago the ABC TV broadcast (non-scheduled) a lecture by John Ralston Saul. I tuned in halfway during the program and was very impressed with his views on globalism. As I missed part of the program I rang the ABC to ask if they would re-broadcast it. They told me that the response they had received was ‘overwhelming’ and they rang me back 2 days later and told me that they will rebroadcast it on Tuesday 2nd Feb. 10.30 PM (Vic time) I think it is important to publicise this on the One Nation website and the News of the day site too. Mr.Saul is a Canadian, and agrees with our views on globalism. He also has written books about the subject, one of which is: Unconscious Civilisation, ISBN 0 14 026464 7. A very good book.

This proves that not just One Nation is concerned about what is going on. In fact I have placed an ad to this effect in Saturday’s local paper. We need to spread the truth about what is going on to voters and even the media, I believe that many media people simply don’t know and only read what they are being fed by opinionated news releases dictated by the powers against us.

Keep up the good work,

Kind Regards,
Karel Zegers

A couple of subjects

1. would VJB please make comment on the declaration of war (1WW) in 1914 by George V on our nations behalf ?

2. recently you ran an interesting article on the wonders of Aspartame. It is well known that our leaders are not interested in doing anything about it. Could we set up a donation system whereby select pollies (PM & Premier) be given a free large daily intake of products containing Aspartame. One way or another I am sure that we will see results.

Assassination at your service,

Regards John Hugo

from the global office:

Another perfect day in paradise.

Have a good one.
