International:

One million dollars went walkabout from the Woorabinda Aboriginal Community two years ago. No one knows where it went to but there were people who knew that it was happening. 18 months before ATSIC (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commissioner) acted an audit was taken exposing this and 150 other "invisible" Community Development Emplyment Programs (work for the dole). These money making scams, linked to the Aboriginal community, were funded by the tax paying Australian public. There are now several other Aboriginal organisations under scrutiny.

It is cases like this which have spawned the perception of the white community that all Aboriginal organisations are fraudulent, that all money spent on Aboriginals is wasted and that Aborigines drive around in four-wheel drive vehicles after lining their own pockets.

In the main this perception is wrong and the Aborigines, just like the whites in this country battle on shoe-string budgets.

Political:

Well motor mouth Bill Kelty, Secretary of the Australian Council of Trade Union's (ACTU), has done it again. Before the election this dispicable little man threatened to turn democracy on its head if the Liberal Party won - which they did. This is the man who threatened to campaign for a 30% rise in salaries for workers. Well I tell you what dickhead if you did that all my staff would be looking for another job.

Now he is putting his threats into action. Can you believe that this blond haired s**t actually wrote to the President of a major coal client of CRA (one of Australia's most profitable mining companies and a major employer) telling them that he would make sure that CRA would not be able to deliver the coal that they had been promised as long as CRA fought the ACTU. The Japanese client is, thanks to the letter, looking for another supplier at a loss to Australia of hundreds of millions of dollars and jobs. This man is into industrial blackmail and a whole host of underhanded ploys that he obviously learnt on his way up to the top of the tree in that sick organisation.

Get real Bill Kelty go and find yourself a proper job and see what Aussie workers actually do to earn a dollar.

Business:

Westpac Bank lifted its interest rates yesterday as fears of a budget blow-out drove the cost of money higher. The move defies a recent trend in banking to cut rates and shows how seriously financial markets are taking the prospect of a huge national deficit.
This deficit is not helped by little pricks like Bill Kelty the ACTU (trade union) secretary who will do anything to undermine what the elected Liberal Party try to do. (See story under Political).

Sport:

British racing driver Damon Hill turned in the fastest time in the lead up and will take be first to have a go in the fight for pole position at the Australian Grand Prix at Melbourne's Albert Park today. Current world champion Michael Schumaker turned in an excellent time clocking over 200km/hr.

The Super League players had a big bash in Sydney on Thursday night. No one is saying why but it appears that Foxtel want to keep their spirits and determination live following the Federal Court ruling banning Super League. Several Super League players have now said that they are going to sue the Australian Rugby League. Oh what a glorious mess!

Social:

An Australian researcher has discovered a process in blood vessels which could be the starting point of heart disease Australia's major killer. Levon Khachigian discovered that injury to blood vessels lining triggered a cascade of molecular changes which may lead to dangerous narrowing of the arteries. Heart disease, stroke and blood vessel disease killed 48,461 people or 36.6% of all Australians who died in 1994.

Personal trivia:

Another absoultely stunning day yesterday - more of the same today. Sunny Queensland beautiful one day perfect the next!
