Political:

Well its all happening in the state seat of Mundingburra in Queensland. For Labor not to lose this seat now, the Liberal/National coalition will have to really blow it. The Labor party members have now turned their backs on the State Labor endorsed candidate, Townsville Mayor, Cr Mooney, and are talking about backing dumped Labor MP Ken Davies as an independent!

Business:

Telstra's main competition in the telecommunications stakes in Australia, Optus, is going through tough times with the second director to resign and depart in as many weeks. Chief Executive Bob Mansfield recently left Optus to take over the reigns at Fairfax, a media giant based in Melbourne.

Sport:

The West Indian cricket team can't put a foot ritght. Yesterday they were slaughtered by the Australian cricket team in a one day match and were, at one time, 4 wickets down for only 17 runs!.

Social:

Women are fighting a losing battle trying to get their husbands to do more work a study has found. Only 8% of wives who sought additional help from their spouses succeeded. About 32% reported a temporary difference while 60% could not elicit any change. To quote Manuel from Faulty Towers "I know notín".

Personal trivia:

Had a fabulous day at the Gold Coast`yesterday. Put our feet in the clear Pacific waters, lunch at a nice Italian restaurant and a pleasant drive back mellowed after a glass of wine! This morning is overcast with the heavens blanketed by rolling clouds and even as I type the first signs of a distant storm with thunder rolling across the valley.
