International:

Political:

Hey, we must be getting near to an election Prime Minister Paul Keating has come out with a grab-bag full of promises including Au$400 million aimed at boosting Australian industry. But there again maybe it is just coincidence.

Business:

Sport:

The dented pride of Australian cricket will be tested again today when it takes on the Sri Lankan team at Perth.

Social:

A report by social commentator Eva Cox states that ex-PM Bob Hawke's consensus politics was a sham and only served the interests of an elite network of "good blokes.

Personal trivia:

Took the family to the Gold Coast for lunch yesterday. It was a fabulous afternoon. Perhaps the most memorable moment, upon reflection, was when I stood on the beach and took up a handful of the fine golden sand. The millions of grains that make up one cubic inch would number more than all the pixels that I have manipulated to create graphics over tens of thousands of hours. And yet they are all perfect, small and join to give this visual impression of miles of golden beach extending as far as the eye can see. How small we really are.
