Prime Minister Paul Keating launched a broadside at Australia's richest man, media magnate Kerry Packer saying: " Someone unkindly remarked to me that Mr Packer had a PhD in greed."

Carmen Lawrence is having trouble raising the Au$250,000 odd for her legal fees. The Health Minister's friends have been informed that donations will NOT be tax deductible. Well, I should hope not!

Business:

Three major Queensland concrete supply companies have been fined Au$6.6 million each for price fixing. Boral, CSR and Readymix three well-thought of Australian companies committed this heinious deed.

Sport:

Australia loses the third test against Pakistan after a batting collapse brought on by leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed.

Social:

Paul Keating has warned that unemployment causes social breakdown. He compared the problems now faced within the US where the image of social breakdown in certain quarters was very strong.

Personal trivia:

We were very busy yesterday setting up a number of web pages for clients. The day was warm, humid but the view outside was, as always, magnificent. Ah.. the lifestyle! Today we will be spending a few hours enjoying lunch at the Gold Coast about an hour's drive from here.
