The senior bureaucrats and their political masters blew it when some very confidential and damaging information collected on senior politicians in the South Pacific Islands by Australian intelligence was left on a table at last week's South Pacific Forum economic minister's meeting in Cairns.

The 93 page report was taken under wing by a passing journalist who revealed some of the "meatier" bits in the Sydney Morning Herald yesterday.

The claims in the report include stories of corruption, islands near bankruptcy etc... and Labor's acting leader, Gareth Evans, (while Beazley swans around overseas) said that Peter Costello, who is apparently to blame, should apologise for "patronising, arrogant and contemptuous remarks" about South Pacific leaders.

A few days ago we mentioned the extortion attempt that is evolving around Australian supermodel Elle MacPherson. Now it seems the impact of the photos that were stolen (which are claimed to be sexually explicit) could damage her career.

In this fickle world that we live it takes two minutes for a goon to steal a photo then place it on the Internet for everyone to see.

At this stage it appears that the photos have not been put on the net but the claim by the thief, Michael Mishler that he was Elle's toy boy has certainly done nothing to help her.
