Tell Communications Minister, Senator Alston how you feel about timed calls.

International:

Seems like disgraced Australian businessman and now Spanish refugee, Christopher Skase, has been joined by a mysterious Russian prince, Prince Tchukotua, who owns a casino on the island of Majorca. The two are looking for “investment opportunities” in the hospitality trade.

The Russian Prince is married to a Spanish heiress and is a long time friend of the King of Spain, Juan Carlos. Bankrupt Skase bought his current home, a villa, La Noria, on Majorca from the Prince for Au$3 million.

Political:

Support for the Federal Member for Oxley, Pauline Hanson’s, fledgling party One Nation is picking up pace with National Director David Ettridge saying that some 5,000 members have now signed up.

Amongst those who have recently shown support are the doyenne of Australian swimming Dawn Fraser who supported Ms Hanson on the following issues:

“We’ve got a lot of problems here in our own country, especially with the Aboriginals, that we should be looking out for our own first before looking overseas,” said Ms Fraser.

Ms Fraser recently resigned from politics after being elected an Independent Member of Parliament in New South Wales.

Ms Hanson is now looking for 'like minded candidates' and will field them in all 148 seats in the House of Representatives as well as standing candidates in the Senate in each state.

National Director of One Nation, Ettridge, said that if extremist groups such as the League of Rights or the defunct Confederate Action Party tried to control One Nation they would be expelled.

One Nation will look at swapping preferences with other parties like the Australian Reform Party.

Australian Nationwide Opinion Polls’ Rod Cameron said, “She (Ms Hanson) will take blue collar votes from Labor; she will take John Howard’s new battlers, and she will take some of the National Party’s grassroots.”

Ms Hanson could also harm the Australian Democrats by attracting their share of the protest vote he said.

Business:

Oh how the mighty have fallen. Former Coles Myer chief Brian Quinn was yesterday convicted of fraud against the company - to the tune of Au$4.6 million... represented by renovations to his family “palace” home.

Quinn, 60, looked stunned as the six man, six omen jury delivered its verdict. He gulped hard, blinked several times and folded his arms in front of him.

Quin now faces a lengthy, yet to be announced, jail sentence.
