International:

Former Australian Prime Minister wants to return to Indonesia to meet President Suharto so that he can maintain the friendship. Indonesian Ambassador Wiryono Sastrohandoyo said that Mr Keating told him that he wanted to "renew the friendship and have an exchange of views" with the 74 year old Indonesian leader.

"Keating and the President understand each other and I think that Keating valued that very much", Mr Wiryono said.

Sounds to me like Keating is getting into consulting - as he promised - and has some high paying clients to look after...

Sport:

Natal got trounced!

What a one-sided game. Natal looked like they were going to cause an upset in the finals of the 1996 Super 12 rugby union but got walked over by an exhuberant, powerful New Zealand team. Auckland were just too good! Even when Natal were on attack they lost possession and on more than one occasion the New Zealanders ran rings through the backline. Jonah Lomu the 118kg Auckland wing was just awesome. He ran through the world's best full back leaving Andre Joubert and powerhouse James Small lying on the ground like discarded flies.

The sheer running power of the Auckland pack more than made up for the one area in which Natal dominated - at the throw in.

The Natal backline was in tatters and never more so when Kevin Putt had to leave the field because of injury.

All in all a very disappointing match with Natal 20 and Auckland run away winners on 43.

Personal trivia, from the global office:

Another perfect day - sun, warmth after a cool night and the glorious view. I think that I will relax today and enjoy the net and a surf...
