Issues - The banking system under the spotlight.

International:

The following report reveals exactly what is wrong with the Native Title Act at present. Murrandoo Yanner, who has a reputation for getting his way through intimidation, single handedly forced the Ai$1.1 billion Century Zinc project to arbitration yesterday.

The compensation package agreed to in principal by the Aboriginal leaders in December last year was changed after Yanner met with the leaders when they arrived early for yesterday's meeting to ratify the deal. The discussions late on Wednesday took place without the lawyers being present and resulted in a revised compensation package being drafted by the Aboriginal leaders. This package was presented to the Queensland government and CRA who immediately rejected it.

The talks yesterday were pretty futile with Yanner holding out for a better deal. Eventually the chairman of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC) Gatjil Djerkurra convinced Yanner that he should accept the original proposal agreed by the Aboriginal elders in December. But it was all too late with the elders having left the meeting and despite the best efforts of those left behind, the necessary signatures could not be found before the midnight deadline.

The outcome is a six month delay while the case now goes to arbitration and the comment by the Century Zinc managing director that the compensation package is no longer part of the deal.

This means that everybody loses - especially the indigenous people - because of the enormous amount of money that was to be spent training and educating them and especially the unemployed people of Queensland because a Au$1.1 billion mining project has now been delayed for another six months. (Queensland is facing its highest rate of unemployment in three years at: 10.3%). All thanks to one man Mr Murrandoo Yanner.

Yes, these events reveal what is wrong with the Native Title Act and why Australians are so threatened by it.

What do you think of the events that have taken place here?

Political:

Independent MP for Kalgoorlie, Graeme Campbell, last night launched an attack on the credibility of Australia's Governor-General Sir William Deane over his support for multi-culturalism.

Campbell referred to Deane as "Holy Billy - a secular cleric hero of the elites".

Throughout his speech in Parliament Campbell compared Deane to pious church leaders - out of touch with reality.

"You know the type - unctuous elites out of touch with everyday cares who luxuriate in their own high morality. A man perfectly at home amongst such people, though not a religious cleric is our Governor-General Sir William Deane, appointed by that most un-Australian of people, Paul Keating," Campbell said.

"Sir William is a holy Joe preacher of the first order. Holy Billy is seen in all the most fashionable media outlets, with an expression of studied anguish on his holy face."

Referring to an Aboriginal ceremony recently attended by Deane, Campbell said he had "made a holy fool of himself pretending to be an Aboriginal".

"Once enveloped in smoke, he sat amidst what was supposed to be an enactment of some sort of Aboriginal ceremony. It was a perfect illusion of what he is - all smoke and mirrors."

Subject: re Carmen Lawrence

When Carmen Lawrence became premier of WA, it was the richest and had the best future, of any state in Australia. Within a year, Carmen Lawrence had reduced WA to the state of a third world nation. It always amazed me how she got into federal politics in the first place. Her involvement in the Penny Easton affair (the operative word is AFFAIR, you draw your own conclusions, but for hard evidence, go visit some bars and pubs in Perth), was nothing short of disgusting and she should be held accountable for everything that happened. Of all the people who have been prosecuted as a result of WA Inc, she should have been the first. It was the Labor party under Mr. Scumbag who promised to pay her legal fees. The order of precedence in suing for payment should be:

  1. Carmen Lawrence
  2. Mr. Scumbag
  3. Labor Party
  4. Go back to 1 and start again

Subject: Re: The Great Texas Bank Job (U.S. Injustice dept. Exposed)

Your consideration is very much appreciated. I am the son of a Naval Air Corp Pilot who served the Worlsd well during WW II. The great Texas Bank Job is a very real episode in the corrupt chronicles of American Banking. The Arkansas Governors Race was not the only thing financed with Looted Bank and $&L money. The dangerous aspect of this matter is very simple: If the U.S. Government can selective gleen certain aspects of the obviously very real 80s Looting Debacle, None of us is Safe.

Thank you again.

Sport:

The Australian cricket team beat the South African Nicky Oppenheimer XI in their first match in South Africa. The one day match was dominated by Matthew Elliott the Australian batsman with big intentions of getting into the test side. His 133 put Australia in the pound seat - although they just won with 284 runs against the Invitation XI's 266.

Global Gripe of the day:

The environment goons last stand, I hope....

The Cyber Cop patrol went into full alert yesterday after the motor bikes returned for the first time in over 10 days.

I was fortunate to be able to confront the environmental goons face to face and get some very useful photographs for what could be an interesting outcome.

Personal trivia, from the global office:

Cooler, overcast day today, although it is still humid. The weather forecasters say that there is a good chance of rain. I hope that they are right - we could certainly do with some.

The past week has been very hot with temperatures staying in the high 30's during the day.

Have a good one!
