Bob McMullan, the Minister for Unemployment

Please read the attached documents carefully.

They are all taken from the Internet and are all press releases by government bodies. Two are authorised by Senator Bob McMullan in 1995 then Minister for Trade and are taken from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s web site. The third is taken from the World Trade Organisation’s web site (the document marked ‘WTO’ in the top right corner).

The authenticity can be verified by going to Ipswich Library and visiting Global Info-Links on the third floor. The Internet addresses are displayed on the very top right of each document.

Some quick facts about the financial services agreement

(today known as the ‘Financial Services Industry Agreement or FSIA’).

See attached documents marked ‘FSIA’ and ‘WTO’ in the top right corner:

In 1995 Senator Bob McMullan said on approving this international treaty,

‘The financial services agreement will directly benefit Australian banks, insurance companies and securities traders.’

What is the FSIA?

It is the tool that has been used by foreign banks and investors to take over Australian banks and the insurance industry.

What is the result of Senator McMullan approving the FSIA?

Ask Senator McMullan why he approved the FSIA in 1995 without first informing the Australian people about its subsequent devastating ramifications on bank employees around Australia.

Page over for Senator McMullan and the MAI

Some quick facts about the
multilateral agreement on investment or MAI:

Negotiations on the MAI were started by Senator McMullan in May 1995 - see document marked ‘MAI’ on top right corner.

For more information on the MAI visit the INTERNET.

The MAI, like the FSIA, is a secret international treaty that has been negotiated by Australian bureaucrats without YOUR involvement or input since 1995.

It was Pauline Hanson who exposed the MAI in a press conference in January 1998 starting a move that has resulted in the establishment of a ‘Joint Standing Committee on Treaties’. This committee was formed following growing public concern about the MAI after Ms Hanson spoke out on the topic.

The MAI, once signed, will give multinational employers far more control over unions and employers than Patrick Stevedores have over the MUA.

Ask Senator McMullan:

· what impact the MAI will have on workers rights.

· what impact he thinks the MAI will have on unemployment in Australia.

· what the MAI will do to small business in Australia.

· what the MAI will do to YOUR standard of living.

· if the MAI is so bad why he was personally instrumental in taking Australia to the OECD negotiating table.

There is only one party which has challenged the manner in which Australia is being ‘globalised’ without open consultation. That party is Pauline Hanson’s One Nation.

As an ALP supporter you should be seriously questioning why your party has allowed so many thousands of jobs to be lost through ‘globalisation’ and so much of Australia’s wealth to be ‘handed over’ to foreign companies who pay little or no tax.
