Hanson, "Rejection by Youth Suicide Forum Organisers Saddens me".

Since becoming a Member of Parliament I have consistently voiced my concern about the increase in youth suicide in Australia. To that end, I sought to attend the Australian People's Forum on Youth Suicide in Canberra on 10 and 11 August 1998.

I am saddened that the forum organisers have asked that I not attend the workshop because my attendance could distract other delegates. They said I was welcome to attend the 'politicians' segment at the end of the forum.

I was informed I was the only federal politician who was interested in attending the forum workshop. I have a genuine, ongoing concern about youth suicide. This is not about politics; it is about our children.
