Hanson, “Black Spot funding good news for Ipswich”.

3 September 1997

I am pleased to announce Federal funding of $25,000 to pay for the improvement of a road accident black spot - this is good news for Ipswich.

The Black Spot funding, provided under the Federal Road Safety Black Spot Programme, will pay for improved signage and delineation at the intersection of Robertson Rd and Whitehill Rd, Eastern Hts.

I congratulate the Queensland Black Spot Community Consultative Panel for their work in the submission of site proposals.

The Queensland Panel includes representatives of the RACQ, the road transport industry and state and local government. We need more public involvement in consultation on all issues, but this panel is at least a start.

Black Spot Programme information kits, including site nomination forms, are available by telephoning toll free 1800 026 349.

I urge ordinary Australians to become involved - the future of our community is a responsibility we must all share
