Statement by Geoff Crawford - Director Corporate Affairs
The ABC has accepted a proposal put forward by Mr Kerry Packer to settle his defamation action over a 1997 Four Corners program, Packer's Power.
After six years, this legal action is now concluded.
The ABC continues to stand by the program, which was an important investigation into casino licensing and business transactions involving companies associated with Mr Packer.
The ABC makes no apology for the broadcast and does not retract any of its content.
ABC News and Current Affairs will continue to make programs that are in the public interest.
