Pauline

The Hanson Phenomenon

An authorised biography

by Helen Jean Dodd Ph.D

Summary and order form:

This book is about Pauline Hanson, one of the most controversial women politicians to have been elected to the Australian Federal Parliament. Originally endorsed as a Liberal candidate, only to be dis-endorsed two weeks before the election, she stood as an Independent and won the safe Labor seat of Oxley in Queensland. She is an enigma; a popular outgoing person, yet a person who guards her private life jealously. She is a shy and reserved person but one who has great courage and determination; a mother, business woman and politician combined.

This book is an attempt to describe the essence of Pauline Hanson, to discover what factors have influenced her life, what are her hopes and her dreams for the future and to give the reader an insight into ‘who is Pauline Hanson?’

The book also presents some historical, factual and statistical information on several issues raised by Pauline Hanson. The information presented on these issues is not intended to be an exhaustive treatise. It is an attempt to place information before the reader that will lead to a greater understanding of the emotive issues which face all Australians.

The book contains photographs that trace Pauline’s family background, her childhood and other aspects of her life. A series of photographs which trace her political history through her election to Oxley and the launch of Pauline Hanson’s One Nation in Ipswich are included. Some of these photographs show the face of the mob that has brought violence to Australian politics.
