I'm sorry Pauline, you no longer represent the issues - you represent the problem

15th December 1999

Pauline Hanson today vowed her One Nation party would survive despite five of the party's Queensland MPs splitting to form their own group. Ms Hanson, who with the assistance of David Oldfield and David Ettridge, established the flawed One Nation party structure, said she would never align herself with the breakaway group. And she said she would stand again for federal parliament.

"I make my position very clear," she told ABC TV by phone from Detroit in the United States.

"My support is with the existing elected national executive of Pauline Hanson's One Nation, which includes David Oldfield and David Ettridge.

"I'm very disgusted by what Heather Hill and the Queensland state MPs are doing, and I will never, never join them."

Well Ms Hanson I say now publicly that I have, sadly, lost all respect for you - if you cannot see the charade that is taking place at Manly through the company Pauline Hanson's One Nation Limited then you must be part of it as I do not buy into the media-inspired argument that you are "dumb". You once told me that respect is earned... it is also just as easily lost.

@notd readers will recall that Mrs Hill was sacked from her job as senior adviser to One Nation Senator Len Harris on Monday and research officer Brett Hocking escorted out by armed police yesterday.

Mrs Hill said yesterday she was sacked for raising too many questions about where the party's funds had gone and also suggested she may have been pushed aside to provide a job for Ms Hanson. I have been reliably informed that Mrs Hill was threatened on more than one occasion with a defamation writ by David Oldfield  and Ettridge if she pursued her quest for proper financial records.

"I wanted to know what the financial status of the organisation was," Hill said yesterday. "I wanted to know for the membership what and how the money was being expended. At the last national executive meeting I was threatened with defamation by both of the Davids approximately five times because I kept asking them to be accountable."

Ms Hanson said during yesterday's interview on the ABC that Mrs Hill had been provided with all the information she requested about the party's finances - a claim which is a porky pie. I was informed first hand that the "financial documents" supplied to Hill by Hanson were restricted to the trust fund as Hanson outlined in the interview below. No access to the major financial benefactor of the party, Pauline Hanson's One Nation Limited - these financial statements have NOT been given to the national executive... and as revealed earlier on the @notd PHONL have not submitted their returns to ASIC you work that out!

Quote from Ken Hunter letter:

I attempted to get copies of the 1997 and 1998 financial returns of Pauline Hanson's One Nation Ltd (ACN 079 986 913) "the company" from ASIC but was told they have not been lodged. I was told the 1997 return should have been lodged no later than the 15/4/99.

Hanson responded to Hill's claims about access to the financials with the statement, "When Heather Hill was a member of the Queensland executive I know she received various accounting details, because I personally gave her a complete list of all trust account expenditure," she said - neatly side-stepping the mysterious main PHON Ltd and PHON accounts.

"I do not stand by Heather, I do not stand by the MPs and I do not support them whatsoever," Hanson continued.

Asked if she and Ms Hill were still friends, Ms Hanson said politics was a tough game.

"Well my father always told me ... politics is a dirty game," she said. I can't believe that I am saying this but as one of Pauline's biggest supporters in the past it would now unfortunately appear to me that Pauline has now learnt that dirty game.

Just why CAN'T Manly be accountable with the finances - for God's sake.... what do they have to hide!!!!!

The porky pie of the day comes, unsurprisingly, from David Ettridge who when asked about providing accounts relating to the party's fundraising said that members of the national executive "had not asked for them". (See Hill's comments above). On television Oldfield would not release financial documents that he waved around when claiming that they were available to One Nation members.

Hanson has picked up the Oldfield theme saying the Queensland mutiny was not the end of One Nation, "No it's not, never, it will never be. We've achieved so much in such a short period of time in having the governments reassess their policies and directions to what is best for the Australian people.

"I'm going to come back from the States and I'm going to stand again for a seat in parliament, to continue to be the voice for the Australian people.

"No it's not finished because the Australian people won't allow it to be finished."

No Pauline our fight is over issues always will be and always has been. You were the messenger for me and many others once - but no more. Your credibility has been tarnished by your rusted-on association with the 2D Factor. I wish you well in your legal fights ahead following the appeal caused by the incompetence of Manly.

With the facts before me I can no longer support Ms Hanson and I doubt that I ever will again. This bit of rust just fell off.

In a later interview yesterday Oldfield, the unaffordable $1.2 million Senator, claimed on 2GB Radio that Heather Hill was not sick but plotting with the One Nation MPs. I can tell you that Hill was very sick at this time...... Here is an extract from a letter written by Shon on that radio interview:

Oldfield was condescending, rude and offensive. As a current member of One Nation and a past office bearer of the party, * I * was offended and ashamed - this is our party's representative! Not to mention the effect that David's aspersions would have had on Heather Hill, someone who I believe possesses integrity and honesty. She certainly did not deserve what David dished out. After all, this was national radio folks... He didn't even bother to contain his serpent-like attack to a private phone conversation.

Just over a year ago we had eleven One Nation MPs in Queensland and now we have none. Yet THEY (PHON) still have the same 2D problem - the cause behind the mass exodus of most of the MPs.

I'm sorry Pauline you no longer represent the issues - you now represent the problem.
