The City Country Alliance today announced Gary Wilkins as their candidate for the upcoming Woodridge By-election.
Mr Wilkins announced his reasons for choosing to stand as a candidate for the Woodridge electorate. "Woodridge is my backyard and I am very concerned that for over twenty years it has been left to its own devices. The former Member has neglected his duties, having neither his home nor his electorate office in the electorate. It concerns me that the people of Woodridge have voted for the same party year after year, and settled for Mr Darcy's poor performance," Mr Wilkins said.
Mr Wilkins is a family man and stands for traditional family values. At aged 37, he is happily married to his wife Brita of 2 years, and has two daughters, Amy and Brooke.
"I have spent most of my life in Sales. My last position was State Sales Manager for 8 years. 18 months ago, I started my own Signwriting business, and know first hand about the plights of the small business owner. I have always been a battler, and my parents were £10 pound pommies, so they too have succeeded through hard times."
"In my spare time, I am heavily involved with the signing deaf community. My wife, Brita is a C.O.D.A. (child of deaf adults) and is a professional interpreter employed full time with the Queensland Deaf Society," Mr Wilkins advised. "I also enjoy motorsport, having spent my younger years racing motor bikes and recently a competitor in the HQ series."
Mr Wilkins considers himself an everyday person. "I recognise the issues currently affecting the Woodridge electorate, such as unemployment, housing, law and order, drugs, youth and aged welfare."
"I have been attracted to CCAQ because it is their policies that will adequately address the issues concerning the Woodridge electorate. I believe it is important to listen to the needs of the people of Woodridge and serve them to the best of my ability. I truly believe they deserve a better deal," Mr Wilkins concluded.
