Raised in Kobe, Japan. First job was a newspaper boy. His grandfather is noted as the "father of Japanese electronics" founded Matsushita Electric Industrial Corp in Japan. Graduated from Kohnan University and worked in marketing at Panasonic. Raced in his first motocross race without parent's knowledge. Married to Akiko and has a son Takayuki. Enjoys playing billiards and video games. Resides in San Clemente, California where he is also president of a real estate company and Swift Engineering.
