Racing Career:

Started motocross racing at age seven and was winning major competitions by age fifteen.

1985 - Switched to off-road racing at father's request. Won first off-road race entered (Nevada 500) ahead of second placed father. Within two weeks of first official win won first Mickey Thompson stadium race entered.

1986 - Teamed with father Bob Gordon won four off- road races and the SCORE/HDRA championships.

1987 - Teamed again with father. Won three races and second consecutive SCORE/HDRA off-road championship. Won Rookie of the Year honours.

1988 - Signed first professional contract with Venebie Racing. Won four off-road truck races and first championship for the Ford factory team. Ran his own 1600 Mickey Thompson car and won that championship as well. Elected to the AARWBA Auto Racing All-American Team.

1989 - Raced factory Ford off-road trucks and a factory Toyota in the Mickey Thompson stadium series. Won six of eight Mickey Thompson races en route to championship. Won five off-road truck races including a solo drive for sixteen hours and fifteen minutes in the Bara 1000. Was first overall winner in a truck.

1990 - Won SCORE/HDRA Class B championships. Moved from dirt to pavement joining the Kack Roush Racing team and competing in an IMSA GTO Mercury Cougar. Won the 24 hours of Daytona in GTO class. Won four more races finishing second in the season's standings. Captured the pole in first career ARCA stock race at Atlanta.

1991 - Scored second consecutive GTO class win at 24 Hours of Daytona. Won a total of five IMSA races in a Ford Mustang including 12 hours of Sebring, Portland, Road Atlanta, Lime Rock and DelMar to finish second in the GTO championship. Finished eighteenth at first ever Daytona 500 after running in the top ten.

1992 - Won third consecutive class victory at Daytona. Won first ever Trans-Am race entered at Long Beach (started from the pole). Started seven PPG IndyCar World Series events driving Chip Ganassi Racing Lola-Ford-Cosworth XB. Finished eighth at Toronto and Cleveland. At Cleveland became the only rookie of the season to lead a lap.

1993 - In first full IndyCar season finished tenth in points for A.J.Foyt Racing. Started the year with a third place podium finish at Australia. Best finish was second at Mid-Ohio which was best result for Foyt since Foyt drove in 1981 Pocono win. Finished in the top ten places ten times. Highest IndyCar career qualifying position was fourth in Australia.

1994 - Competed in all sixteen races for Derrick Walker Racing scoring his first- ever Indy pole at Toronto as well as setting a track record. Got his second pole at Vancouver. Led fifty nine laps for the season. scored five Top Ten finishes en route to fifth place in the PPG Cup standings. Was the highest Lola points finisher. Signed a contract extension with Walker through 1996 with an option for 1997. Made NASCAR debut with Kranefuss/Haas team. Competed in the NASCAR Super Truck debut race.
