THE YEAR WENT BY...

This is part of a series of articles covering the previous year. A year when One Nation went to sleep. I hope to be able show you; issues and opportunities that One Nation let slip by, opportunities for positive publicity and opportunities for building a more inclusive and positive rapport; within the Party and with the public.

MAY-JUN

Media Watch...

Latest media personality showing prejudice against One Nation - Channel 7s... Stan Grant

Here are some excerpts from a letter that Alan Jones had read on his radio program. It was titled Rural Australian Ethnic Cleansing and was dated 28.4.99.

"It started with the Whitlam Government. When it was elected to power in 1972, Gough Whitlam was on record as saying that only civilised people in Australia lived in the city and taxpayers' money would be diverted to the infrastructure in the cities."

"For the rural and regional community ethnic cleansing started then, and has been the policy of successive governments in a relentless way by using policies aimed at transferring all services from the rural sector to the cities."

"Both State and Federal Governments closed and removed public service jobs in the educational and agricultural departments to the cities. State Governments sanctioned the closing down of hospitals and health services and ignored the plight of communities deprived of doctors."

"Consider the Federal Government's total disregard of the flood, frost, fire and drought disasters that have plagued the rural communities... The highly productive rural areas of NSW are a case in point. Twelve months after the disaster of five floods in short succession, the flood victims have been told that if they have a mortgage over their property they're not eligible for any assistance, resulting in many farmers being forced to leave the land... the taxpayer's money which is saved by ruining financially the farmers in their time of need is conveniently sent to any other country in the world suffering similar disasters by way of foreign aid to the tune of hundreds of millions of dollars."

"Following on from this is the Government policy in partnership with the High Court and the United Nations that 80% of rural Australia can be claimed by traditional owners, most of whom live in the cities and have never set foot on the claimed land but who are now in collusion with the State and Federal Governments, standing over rural and regional communities with the threat of traditional owners to obtain either money or land or both.'

"The fact that the rural youth in their despair are suiciding in appalling numbers does not register with any government. Instead, $250,000,000 is allocated to city youth heroin addicts, a self-inflicted health problem..."

"Soon when the ethnic cleansing of the rural population has progressed beyond recovery and land is handed over to the multinationals, only then will it dawn on government policy makers what treasonable havoc has taken place... the Australian Government could give a handy lesson to Mr Milosevic, that is you don't need guns, troops or violence for ethnic cleansing, you can go about it quietly over the years by stealth and Government decree. As Australian governments have shown, it works!"

Well... Alan Jones has the top rating breakfast show in Sydney Radio, probably in Australia. Since many of his ideals, concerns and values, echo that of One Nation. Why didn't the Executive seek time on his program. Seek to talk with him on air about our shared concerns. Back the Watering Australia Foundation. Politics is about policy and salesmanship... If we don't have the salesmen, we can find them, and make use of their skills and forums... if we have the will to share.

The cause must be bigger, more important than the ego of the individual. We have a message to push, we cannot afford silence. In 1999, One Nation was very silent.

Sorry, now let's get on with it...

The Daily Telegraph MAY '99

Piers Akerman

"To any it would appear that a whole new industry has been created around presenting apologies to Aboriginal Australians from people who were not even born in the era when the removal of part-Aboriginal children from their mothers was hailed as an enlightened and responsible program."

"Policies which were based soundly on the prevailing thinking of a century or more ago are today seen as shameful."

"We are sorry that some Aboriginal Australians were abominably treated by early European Australians. Europeans of that period treated native people badly in most parts of the world."

"Humans have, however, been treating humans badly all around the globe for millennia. Such activities didn't begin in Australia and, tragically, they certainly haven't ended elsewhere, as we are reminded daily in the foreign press."

"The perpetuation of so-called Sorry Days is not the way to go, however."

"Sure, some people are sorry about history but a lot more are concerned with doing something about the future."

Well... More proof that Piers Akerman has more in common with One Nation than he will concede. To find out why... keep reading.

Too kind for our own good...

The Daily Telegraph MAY '99

Piers Akerman

"Thanks to a generation of self-serving do-gooders in the legal community, Australia is now the destination of choice for growing numbers of expensive illegal immigrants."

"Curiously, the toughening of the approach to illegal immigrants is yet another policy which both One Nation, in its xenophobia, and the Democrats, with their concerns about sustainable population, would probably agree."

There was much more to this piece but space limits prevent me from expanding on it any more. The general idea however was that we as a nation are too lenient, too easy on people who enter our country illegally. As you can see, Piers had to have a dig at One Nation again, I guess he just can't help himself. he just can't bring himself to agree with us... even if he does..

From the horse's mouth... Tony Abbott

I won't enter into conjecture here about Liberal party motives and involvement with the birth of One Nation, but I want you to remember this admission; "a strong One nation vote presents the Coalition with two alternatives; conceding government to Labor (by directing preferences against One Nation); or creating a credible rival for the conservative vote (by putting Labor last)." Well, we all know what their decision was. Now, you know, why.

To prevent the creation of a credible rival for the conservative vote. The Coalition were willing to risk their re-election, preferring the enemy, Labor, to win government, rather than have One Nation become a major political force. How many times have I said it? They do not want a third major party in Australian politics.

Well... Why wasn't this admission thrown back in their faces?

Why is it that before every election we seem to have some major problems precipitated? Why is it that the National Executive always seem to be the common denominator?

Do I think it is deliberate sabotage? NO. But I do think it is due to poor Leadership and decision making. Where does the buck stop? Where do you think?

THE YEAR ROLLS ON AND OPPORTUNITIES CONTINUE TO BE MISSED. ALAN JONES SHOULD BE AN ALLY, (ONE OF MANY). I SPOKE TO PIERS AKERMAN AND AMONG THE MANY EXPLETIVES, WAS HIS REASON FOR NOT PUBLICALLY CREDITING ONE NATION.

."IT WAS BEING RUN BY SHONKS."
